VFF confirmed that two players Tien Linh and Que Ngoc Hai will leave the national team on the afternoon of January 3 to return to their clubs. Both will continue to receive treatment for their injuries in order to return to training soon, preparing for the next training sessions.
Previously, Que Ngoc Hai suffered a torn hamstring while training at Binh Duong Club, and had to sit out the last two matches in the 2023-24 V-League. After being called up early for treatment, Que Ngoc Hai relapsed in the training session on January 1. The team's doctors assessed that the central defender from Nghe An would need 3 weeks to recover.

Similar is the case of striker Tien Linh who suffered an ankle sprain from the club (round 8 of V-League). Despite receiving intensive treatment when joining the Vietnam national team, he still could not recover in time for the 2023 Asian Cup.
The absence of both Tien Linh and Que Ngoc Hai is a big loss for the Vietnamese team at the 2023 Asian Cup. Both are experienced players, playing an extremely important role in the game. If Que Ngoc Hai is the leader of the defense, Tien Linh is the main striker of the team.
The "injury storm" in the Vietnamese team is causing coach Troussier a headache. Up to this point, there are 8 players who will miss the 2024 Asian Cup campaign, including: Dang Van Lam, central defender Bui Tien Dung, Thanh Chung, Que Ngoc Hai, midfielder Duc Chien, Van Toan, striker Thanh Nhan, Tien Linh.
