Recently, Vietnam Electricity Group adjusted the electricity price up for the second time this year with an increase of 4.5%, bringing the price of electricity to over 2,000 VND/kWh. The increase in electricity price has significantly affected the lives of many people, especially production, business and service households. Many ways to save electricity have been applied to reduce costs while electricity prices are increasing.

Enough ways to save electricity

Making the most of sunlight, limiting the use of irons, water heaters, air conditioners, etc. is the method that Mr. Nguyen Quoc Thong's household in Ward 5 (Tuy Hoa City) has applied in recent days to reduce the family's electricity consumption index when the Electricity Department adjusted the electricity price up again. Mr. Thong shared: In previous months, when the electricity price had not increased, my family paid nearly 1 million VND for electricity each month. From this November, the electricity price has increased, if we do not use it economically, the electricity bill could be more than 1 million VND. To save electricity effectively, I ask everyone in the house to raise awareness, turn off all electrical equipment when not in use, and take advantage of sunlight and wind. In addition, the family also installed a solar water heater to save electricity.

In recent days, the increase in electricity prices has been the most discussed topic at the workers' dormitory in Ward 9 (Tuy Hoa City). Ms. Le Thi Ngoc Nga, who is staying here, said: Every month, I pay 200,000 VND for electricity. Recently, the landlord announced that the electricity bill will increase this month, so we have to try to save electricity by using less fans and limiting the use of high-power electrical appliances...

Similarly, in recent days, Ms. Le Thi Hong, the owner of a hair salon in Ward 3 (Tuy Hoa City) has asked her employees to actively save electricity. Ms. Hong said: My hair salon has 11 employees, is open from 7am to 7pm every day, has a lot of electrical equipment for hairdressing and all are high-capacity machines. On average, the salon's electricity bill is more than 3 million VND per month. Now that the price of electricity has increased, I limit the use of air conditioners and prioritize using fans. The remaining machines and equipment are unplugged from the socket when not in use.

According to Vietnam Electricity Group, through statistics, the amount of electricity consumed by households accounts for about 35% of the total daily electricity consumption. Therefore, the economical, safe and efficient use of electricity by each person and family plays an important role in reducing electricity consumption.

Have an effective production plan

In the context of rising electricity prices, large enterprises and production facilities in the province are also calculating many options to save electricity and costs. Mr. Ho Dai Duong, manager of Vietsun Phu Yen - Branch of Viet Sun Investment Joint Stock Company (An Ninh Dong commune, Tuy An district) said: To save costs, workers at the branch all follow the principle of "turning off when not in use". In particular, ironing, steam pressing, etc., which consume a lot of electricity, are all performed during off-peak hours.

At Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company, exploiting smart lighting systems, smart air conditioning, etc. are the solutions this unit chooses to save electricity. "When applying smart technology to operations, lighting systems will automatically turn on when there are people and turn off when there are no people. The equipment will also automatically update the outdoor temperature to adjust the room temperature to be most suitable and economical," said Mr. Chau Dinh Quoc, Deputy General Director of Song Ba Ha Hydropower Joint Stock Company.

According to the CEO of Concept Eyewear Manufacture Vietnam, Xu Hong Liang, the company specializes in manufacturing eyeglasses, so the number of machines and equipment serving production activities is very large, and the monthly electricity consumption is also quite high. While electricity prices are constantly increasing, the company regularly propagates and guides workers to strictly implement the principles of saving electricity in the factory. Areas without people must turn off all electrical equipment, and operating areas must only have enough electricity to use, and equipment must not be left idling. In addition, the company also has a way to arrange and schedule shifts, and the working time of each stage is also calculated in detail, ensuring that the operation of equipment that consumes a lot of electricity does not fall during peak hours.

According to the Department of Industry and Trade, all people, businesses and organizations can practice saving electricity by taking specific actions such as: Turning off electrical equipment when leaving the room, making the most of natural light and wind, using solar water heaters, setting air conditioners at 250C or higher, not letting electrical equipment run idle, limiting the use of large power-consuming devices during peak hours... When renovating or replacing outdated devices that consume a lot of energy, use devices labeled as high-efficiency energy-saving...
