Late on the afternoon of May 4, Mr. Tang Quoc Lap, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Long Khanh City ( Dong Nai ) said that the city is currently focusing on overcoming the consequences of the poisoning incident that occurred in the area.
There are two children who are students and are very seriously ill, requiring dialysis, and are currently being actively treated by doctors.
According to Mr. Lap, among the food poisoning cases, there are 88 students. Of which, 11 are preschool students (3 are being treated and monitored at home, 8 are being treated at Long Khanh Regional General Hospital); 8 are high school students, 1 is being treated and monitored at home, 7 are being treated at Long Khanh Regional General Hospital.
In addition, there are 34 primary school students and 35 secondary school students. Of these, 22 are being treated and monitored at home, 36 are being treated at Long Khanh Regional General Hospital; 7 are being treated at Dong Nai Children's Hospital; 1 at Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital 1; 1 at Ho Chi Minh City Children's Hospital 2; 1 at Dong Nai Hospital.
To ensure the learning of the above students, the City People's Committee also requested the school to create favorable conditions for them.
For students in primary school and grades 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, the year-end test is planned and organized by the school, and the test questions are prepared by the professional team, so when the students go to school, the school will organize the test and evaluation. As for students in grades 9 and 12, they have completed the final test of the second semester and are currently focusing on treatment to stabilize their health.
According to Mr. Lap, the city has sent documents to wards, communes, and schools requesting full statistics on food poisoning cases related to Bang bakery. Visiting, encouraging, and providing timely support solutions to difficult cases and poor households in the city.
The Departmentof Education and Training has solutions to support and stabilize the learning, semester exams and thinking of students affected by food poisoning. The Department of Health has increased inspections of food service businesses in the city to promptly detect food safety violations and strictly handle violations of food safety.
Request the People's Committees of wards and communes to increase inspections of food service businesses in the area, especially small establishments, street vendors, especially areas around schools...
There have been 555 hospitalizations after eating the bread.
According to statistics from the health sector, as of 8am this morning, a total of 555 cases of hospitalization after eating bread were recorded from hospitals. Of these, 36 cases were discharged, 120 cases were given prescriptions, 399 cases are being treated, 6 cases are serious and 2 cases are very serious.
Two very serious cases include T.D.NA (7 years old) with septic shock from the digestive tract/obesity, currently on a ventilator, cycle 1 blood filtration, vasopressors... Vital signs are currently stable.
TGH (6 years old) was hospitalized in a state of apnea, coma and had to be put on a ventilator and have his blood filtered in the first cycle. Currently, his vital signs are stable, but his prognosis is very poor.
Regarding the food poisoning case after eating bread at Bang bakery (Xuan Binh ward, Long Khanh city), on May 4, at a meeting on socio-economics, Director of the Department of Health Le Quang Trung said that for the 3 seriously ill children, the blood test results showed that the children were infected with E.coli. The results of the sample test are expected to be available tomorrow (May 5).
As reported, on May 1, Long Khanh Regional General Hospital received 73 cases of stomachache, vomiting, diarrhea, fever... due to eating bread at Bang bakery.
These people mainly bought bread from afternoon to evening, after eating, at midnight on April 30 and early morning on May 1, they had stomachaches, vomiting... so they were taken to the hospital starting from the morning of May 1.
