First day of the 2025 high school graduation exam: Tighter supervision, many innovations in exam questions.

On the afternoon of June 26th, along with candidates nationwide, more than 124,000 candidates in Hanoi completed the first day of the 2025 high school graduation exam with two compulsory subjects: Literature (120 minutes) and Mathematics (90 minutes).
Supervision was tightened right from the exam organization stage. Bui Thi Phuong Dung, Deputy Head of the exam center at Nguyen Du Secondary School (Hoan Kiem District), said that special attention was paid to training in exam supervision skills and disseminating regulations to invigilators and candidates.
Candidate Nguyen Minh Nhat, taking the exam at Tran Duy Hung Secondary School (Cau Giay district), said that he focused on studying subjects in the A00 combination, so he didn't find the math exam too difficult and predicted he would score 9 points.
Leaving the exam center at Phan Dinh Phung High School (Ba Dinh district), candidate Nguyen Tuan Anh shared: “My teachers had guided me to explore many texts outside of the textbook, so when I encountered the excerpt from 'Different Skies' in the exam, I wasn't too surprised.”
Agriculture creates high-quality living spaces.

According to Nguyen Xuan Dai, Director of the Hanoi Department of Agriculture and Environment, although agriculture accounts for only about 2% of the capital's economic structure, Hanoi's agriculture consistently ranks among the top in the country in terms of scale, production value, and development level. In particular, recently, Hanoi's agricultural orientation has made a strong shift towards a green and circular model, serving consumers with high demands for quality and food traceability.
“Developing high-tech agriculture would require building greenhouses and net houses, while lessons from Lam Dong province show that this model has a negative impact on the environment and climate. To mitigate this, Hanoi has selected a few suitable areas for the development of greenhouses and net houses; the rest will prioritize ecological and organic agriculture linked to tourism,” emphasized Vice Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee Nguyen Manh Quyen.
Affirming its role as a driving force for regional development.

Hanoi, the heart of the country, is strengthening regional linkages to create momentum for socio-economic development. According to the Hanoi City Council for Legal Dissemination and Education, the groundbreaking provisions in the 2024 Law on the Capital City have become an important legal basis, allowing the City People's Council to decide on investment policies for strategic and urgent projects.
Architect Le Hoang Phuong, Director of the Hanoi Center for Architecture and Planning, believes that Hanoi needs to build an effective regional coordination mechanism, closely connecting with surrounding provinces. Specialized industrial zones or high-tech agricultural areas in neighboring provinces must be integrated into Hanoi's supply and consumption chain to create a clear ripple effect.
The waste from tutoring and extra classes is immeasurable.
The year 2025 marks a turning point for the education sector as Circular No. 29/2024/TT-BGDĐT, regulating supplementary teaching and learning, officially comes into effect. However, this continues to be a hot topic of public concern.
With his child entering 9th grade this year, Mr. Tran Hoang (Nam Tu Liem district) enrolled his child in three math classes simultaneously this summer: "One is an advanced class that my child has been attending for many years, another is an extra class offered by the school, which the family found difficult to refuse, and the third is a specialized exam preparation class because my child aspires to attend a specialized high school."
Many loopholes for tutoring and extra classes continue to exist. "Tuition is 1.4 million VND, but extra classes cost 4.1 million VND! Then we should change the name of the regular course to 'extra classes' and 'extra classes' to 'regular course' to be honest," one parent lamented on social media.
During the question-and-answer session before the National Assembly, Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Kim Son affirmed that Circular No. 29/2024/TT-BGDĐT on supplementary teaching and learning not only addresses a social issue but is also part of the reform process to transform schools.

Final article: "Rescuing" resettlement apartments

How can we "rescue" resettlement apartment buildings from their current state of dilapidation and neglect?
According to Mac Dinh Minh, Deputy Director of the Hanoi Department of Construction, in order to address shortcomings in the maintenance, renovation, and repair of resettlement buildings, and in accordance with the city's plan, in 2018, the Department of Construction reported to the city's People's Committee that it assigned the Management Board of Investment Projects for Cultural and Social Works (now the Hanoi Civil Construction Investment Project Management Board) to carry out the renovation, repair, and upgrading of fire prevention and fighting systems for resettlement apartment buildings in the area.
"The Department of Construction has also reported to the Hanoi People's Committee, requesting the Hanoi City Housing Management Center to research and develop regulations to organize the review, compilation of a list, and early implementation of projects to renovate, repair, and maintain common areas in dilapidated resettlement apartment buildings," Mr. Mac Dinh Minh added.
