Updated: 04/02/2025 |
Pepper prices today, April 2, 2025, on the world market clearly reflect the pressures from global supply and demand. According to experts, world pepper prices are currently being affected by a decline in production in major exporting countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil, mainly due to prolonged adverse weather conditions that have made it difficult for pepper plants to grow. Meanwhile, pepper consumption demand has increased sharply in key markets such as the US and Europe, especially in the food and spice industry, making global supply even more tense.
Based on specific data, pepper prices in Vietnam today remained stable at 7,100 USD/ton for 500 g/l black pepper and 7,300 USD/ton for 550 g/l black pepper, equivalent to 183,322 VND/kg and 188,486 VND/kg. Vietnamese white pepper also remained high at 10,100 USD/ton (260,782 VND/kg). In Indonesia, black pepper prices reached 7,239 USD/ton (186,911 VND/kg), while white pepper reached 10,066 USD/ton (259,905 VND/kg). Malaysia recorded higher prices with ASTA black pepper at 9,900 USD/ton (255,618 VND/kg) and ASTA white pepper reaching 12,400 USD/ton (320,168 VND/kg). Brazil alone recorded a slight decrease of 0.72 USD/ton, bringing the price of ASTA 570 black pepper down to 6,950 USD/ton (179,449 VND/kg).
The strong US dollar continues to play a positive supporting role for pepper prices in the international market, but production difficulties in key countries such as Vietnam, Indonesia and Brazil are causing supply to shrink. The Vietnam Industry and Trade Information Center (VITIC) under the Ministry of Industry and Trade said that although the harvest in key areas is taking place vigorously, pepper productivity this year has decreased by 20-30% compared to last year, mainly due to prolonged cold weather during the flowering period. This further increases the possibility of pepper prices remaining high if the production situation does not improve soon.
In addition, the trend of farmers and traders in major producing countries, including Vietnam, holding back their goods has also contributed to limiting the amount of pepper circulating in the market. Exports in the first quarter of 2025 are forecast to fall to a six-year low of only about 43,000 - 45,000 tons, clearly reflecting the challenges facing the global pepper industry. In the current context, today's pepper prices not only reflect temporary stability but also pose a risk of volatility if supply continues to be scarce in the coming time.
News, forecast of pepper price tomorrow 4/3/2025 continues to move sideways
The pepper price forecast for April 3, 2025 shows that the world market will continue to maintain stability, and may even increase slightly, bringing good news to those interested in this commodity. Even if you are not familiar with economics, imagine pepper prices like the weather: today is sunny and beautiful, tomorrow is the same but may be a little warmer. That is how the pepper price for April 3, 2025 is predicted based on the current situation.
Specifically, according to the latest information from the International Pepper Community (IPC) updated on the afternoon of April 2, 2025, pepper prices in the world are in a "peaceful" state. Major countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil and Vietnam - the places that produce the most pepper - all show that prices have not changed much compared to the previous day. However, some places may increase or decrease slightly, just like when you buy vegetables at the market, the price today and tomorrow only differ by a few thousand.
In Indonesia, Lampung black pepper is currently priced at $7,239/ton, while Muntok white pepper is $10,066/ton – which sounds high, but that’s because they sell by the ton, which means a lot of pepper combined. In Malaysia, ASTA black pepper is priced at $9,900/ton, while ASTA white pepper is much higher at $12,400/ton, showing that white pepper is always a little more “expensive”. What about Brazil? Pepper prices here are stabilizing around $7,000/ton after a few days of increase, as if they had just climbed to the top of a hill and then rested.
As for Vietnam – the world’s leading pepper producer – pepper prices on April 3, 2025 are forecast to remain stable. Black pepper of 500 g/l is currently at 7,100 USD/ton, 550 g/l is slightly higher at 7,300 USD/ton, and white pepper is at 10,100 USD/ton. Simply put, Vietnamese pepper is still “valuable” and shows no signs of a sharp decrease, and may even increase slightly if everything goes well.
