On the afternoon of June 12, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of key leaders to assess the situation and results of work in April and May 2024 and key tasks in the coming time.

Notably, the 9th Central Conference was successfully organized; the 7th session (phase 1) of the 15th National Assembly was held with many important contents, especially the personnel work was carried out synchronously and promptly, receiving high consensus from public opinion, cadres, party members and people. Accordingly, the positions of President, Chairman of the National Assembly and Standing member of the 13th Party Central Committee Secretariat were completed. The Central Committee also elected 4 additional members of the 13th Politburo; the personnel of the sub-committees preparing for the 14th Party Congress, the sub-committee for internal political protection in the Central Committee and a number of steering committees were completed and approved the completion of leadership positions of a number of party and state agencies. At the same time, key leaders also assessed that the socio-economic situation continued to change positively; the macro-economy was stable, major balances were ensured; state budget revenue increased, the financial situation and state budget continued to improve. The number of international visitors to Vietnam, import and export activities of goods; attracting foreign investment capital; the production and business situation of enterprises had many positive changes. The Government has completed and approved the planning of 6 socio-economic regions; there are many drastic solutions to focus on removing difficulties for production and business; promoting important national projects and works, developing social housing, stabilizing the gold market and credit market. Administrative reform, digital transformation, Project 06 on developing applications of population data, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period of 2022 - 2025, with a vision to 2030, has been directed for implementation. Social security work continues to receive attention. Ensuring national security, order and social safety; Cultural, sports, tourism, information and propaganda activities were promoted with many positive marks, especially the activities and ceremonies celebrating the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu victory; disease and natural disaster prevention and control were actively implemented... The fields of inspection, discipline, anti-corruption and anti-negativity continued to receive attention and direction. Foreign affairs activities took place practically and effectively, contributing to enhancing the role and position of Vietnam...

Preparing personnel plans for party congresses at all levels

Regarding some key tasks in the coming time, key leaders emphasized that, in addition to opportunities and advantages, we are and will face many difficulties and challenges due to the world situation continuing to develop in a complicated and unpredictable manner, fierce competition between major countries, escalating conflicts; climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics have had a heavy impact... At the same time, promoting disbursement of public investment capital, 3 national target programs, important projects, and national key infrastructure. Urgently implementing issued plans, especially the Power Plan VIII, regions, and provinces; focusing on completing the approval of the remaining plans. Proactively developing appropriate plans and projects to ensure sufficient electricity, water, and gasoline for production, business, and daily life. Continue to promote the development and improvement of institutions and law enforcement, especially for newly effective laws; ensure efficiency, synchronization and timeliness.
