On the afternoon of June 12, at the Party Central Committee headquarters, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong chaired a meeting of key leaders to assess the situation and results of work in April and May 2024 and the key tasks for the coming period.
Attending the meeting were President To Lam, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man . Also present were Standing Member of the Party Central Committee Luong Cuong and Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Nguyen Duy Ngoc.

Notably, the 9th Central Committee Conference was successfully organized; the 7th session (first phase) of the 15th National Assembly was held with many important contents, especially personnel work, which was carried out synchronously and promptly, receiving high approval from cadres, Party members, and the people. Accordingly, the positions of President, Chairman of the National Assembly, and Standing Committee of the Party Central Committee of the 13th term were consolidated. The Central Committee also elected four additional members to the Politburo of the 13th term; the personnel of the subcommittees preparing for the 14th Party Congress, the Subcommittee on Internal Political Security at the Central level, and several steering committees were consolidated; and leadership positions in several Party and State agencies were consolidated and approved. At the same time, key leaders assessed that the socio -economic situation continued to improve positively; macroeconomic stability was maintained, major balances were ensured; state budget revenue increased, and the state financial and budget situation continued to improve. Industrial production maintained its growth momentum; agricultural production developed well; energy and food security were ensured... The number of international visitors to Vietnam, import and export activities, and foreign investment attraction showed many positive changes. The Government completed and approved the planning for 6 socio-economic regions; implemented many decisive solutions to focus on removing difficulties for production and business; promoted important national projects, developed social housing, and stabilized the gold and credit markets. Administrative reform, digital transformation, and Project 06 on the development of data applications on population, identification and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030, were given attention and directed for implementation. Social security work continued to receive attention. National security, social order, and safety were ensured. Cultural, sports, tourism, information, and propaganda activities were promoted with many positive achievements, especially the activities and celebrations commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu victory; disease prevention and control and disaster relief were actively implemented... Inspection, discipline, and the fight against corruption and negative practices continued to receive attention and guidance. Foreign relations activities were practical and effective, contributing to enhancing Vietnam's role and position…
Preparing personnel plans for Party congresses at all levels.
Regarding some key tasks in the coming period, key leaders emphasized that, alongside opportunities and advantages, we are and will face many difficulties and challenges due to the continuing complex and unpredictable developments in the world , fierce competition among major powers, escalating conflicts; and the severe impacts of climate change, natural disasters, and epidemics… Therefore, all levels and sectors need to further promote the spirit of solidarity and unity; coordinate smoothly, and direct the implementation of tasks effectively.

Specifically, key leaders requested a strong push for economic growth coupled with consolidating and maintaining macroeconomic stability, controlling inflation, and ensuring major economic balances; focusing on removing obstacles to production and business. Solutions are needed to stabilize the market and prices, especially for gasoline, oil, essential goods, housing, and food. Synchronized and effective solutions are required to tightly manage the gold market while maintaining exchange rates and macroeconomic stability. Simultaneously, the disbursement of public investment capital, the three national target programs, and important national infrastructure projects should be accelerated. The implementation of issued plans, especially the Power Development Plan VIII, for all regions and provinces, should be expedited; and the approval of remaining plans should be focused on. Proactive plans and strategies should be developed to ensure sufficient electricity, water, and fuel for production, business, and daily life. Continue to strengthen the building and improvement of institutions and the organization of law enforcement, especially for newly effective laws; ensuring efficiency, consistency, and timeliness. Promote administrative procedure reform, digital transformation, and implement the Project on developing data applications on population, identification, and electronic authentication to serve national digital transformation in the period 2022-2025, with a vision to 2030. Strengthen measures to prevent and combat natural disasters, fires, floods, droughts, and saltwater intrusion; ensure traffic safety, security, and food safety. Key leaders also requested focusing on doing a good job to prepare for directing the Party congresses at all levels leading up to the 14th National Party Congress; focusing on finalizing the draft documents of the 14th National Party Congress to submit to the 10th Central Committee meeting as planned; reviewing and supplementing planning at all levels to prepare for the personnel plan for the Party congresses at all levels. Continue to do a good job in preventing and combating corruption and negative phenomena, contributing to consolidating and strengthening the people's trust in the Party, the State, and the regime. Accelerate the verification, investigation, prosecution, and trial of serious and complex corruption and negative cases that attract public attention, especially those under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee on Anti-Corruption and Negative Phenomena. Direct and urge Party organizations to rectify violations and shortcomings concluded by the Central Inspection Committee and other functional agencies. Actively disseminate information and educate, promptly guiding public opinion on the fight against corruption and negative phenomena... Key leaders require ensuring strong national defense and security, social order, and safety. Effectively implement foreign affairs work, strengthen relations with important countries and partners, prioritize, promote, and meticulously organize foreign affairs events both domestically and internationally, and maintain a peaceful and stable environment for national development. Simultaneously, do a good job in personnel management and internal political security; intensify the fight against and effectively handle harmful, false, and subversive information from hostile forces... Rectify the situation where some media outlets do not strictly comply with regulations on information and propaganda; publish unverified news and articles, operate contrary to their principles and objectives, causing confusion and negative impacts on society. Effectively carry out mass mobilization work, ethnic and religious affairs to limit negative impacts on security, politics, social order, and safety, create high social consensus, promote patriotic emulation movements, and consolidate the great national unity.
