General Secretary To Lam arrives in Pyongyang, North Korea

This morning, General Secretary To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation arrived at Pyongyang International Airport, beginning a State visit to North Korea.

The official delegation included: Head of the Central Organizing Committee Le Minh Hung; Head of the Central Internal Affairs Committee Phan Dinh Trac; Head of the Central Inspection Committee Nguyen Duy Ngoc; Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Do Van Chien; Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council Nguyen Xuan Thang; General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense; General Luong Tam Quang, Minister of Public Security ; Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung; Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Khac Dinh; Chief of the Party Central Committee Office Pham Gia Tuc; Acting Minister of Agriculture and Environment Tran Duc Thang; Mr. To An Xo, Assistant to the General Secretary, in charge of the General Secretary's Office; Vietnamese Ambassador to North Korea Le Ba Vinh.

Welcoming General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation at the airport were: Alternate member of the Politburo , State Councilor, Head of the International Department - Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam; Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of North Korea Im Chon In.

At Pyongyang International Airport, two rows of honor guards stood on both sides of the red carpet. Alternate member of the Politburo, State Councilor, Head of the International Department - Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea Kim Song Nam welcomed General Secretary To Lam at the foot of the plane's stairs. A North Korean girl presented flowers to General Secretary To Lam.

General Secretary To Lam walked along the red carpet and shook hands with North Korean officials who came to welcome the delegation and the staff of the Vietnamese Embassy in North Korea. North Korean children waved flags and flowers to welcome General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation.

This visit has many very special meanings, being the first visit to North Korea by General Secretary To Lam and the first State visit by the General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam to North Korea in 18 years.

The visit took place on the occasion of the two countries celebrating the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations (1950-2025) and the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Year 2025, vividly demonstrating the importance that the two Parties and two States attach to the traditional friendship between Vietnam and Korea.

North Korea is one of the first countries in the world to establish diplomatic relations with Vietnam (since 1950). This is a traditional friendship that has been carefully cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh, President Kim Il Sung and generations of leaders of the two countries.

During the struggle for national liberation, North Korea also stood side by side with and helped Vietnam. Vietnam also always supported and accompanied North Korea in difficult times.
