General Secretary To Lam: Farmers are the vanguard soldiers on the food security front.

On the afternoon of October 14, on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Farmers' Union, General Secretary To Lam met with 95 outstanding Vietnamese farmers and scientists of farmers.

General Secretary To Lam expressed his joy at meeting the 95 delegates, who represent the will, determination and creativity of Vietnamese agriculture ; affirming that farmers are the ones who have made miracles in the renovation period, contributing to changing the fate of the country: from prolonged hunger to ensuring food security, then moving up to being the world's leading agricultural exporter in many products.

General Secretary To Lam emphasized: "We are happy to see more and more farms, fields, forests, gardens, and ponds with revenues of hundreds of billions and tens of billions of dong; more and more examples of hard work and creativity in agriculture from young people to the elderly. Through your stories, I have seen the nuances of the professional, modern farmers and the "farmer scientists" who are truly the bridge to bring knowledge and technology into fields, barns, and factories, turning ideas into productivity, quality, and added value."

The General Secretary said that the Politburo is directing a preliminary review and assessment of the implementation of Resolution 19 of the Central Committee to achieve the goals of agricultural breakthroughs, prosperous countryside, and happy farmers in the coming time. In which, it is necessary to put farmers in the central position.

According to General Secretary To Lam, each farmer is a pioneer soldier on the food security front; an entrepreneur of the land; an "ecological engineer" protecting land, water, forests, and seas, bringing science and technology into the heart of production.

The General Secretary proposed to diversify agricultural products, each commune-level unit set a target of having at least one key branded product, developing green - circular - climate-adaptive agriculture, building civilized, secure and affectionate rural areas, so that each village is truly a "livable place". General Secretary To Lam hopes that farmers will be honored for their excellence, and that farmers' scientists will be the torches spreading the spirit of innovation and creativity, the desire to enrich the community legitimately, and helping other farming households to rise up together.
