President Luong Cuong: Arousing and promoting patriotism and the desire to become rich legitimately of Vietnamese farmers

Also attending the ceremony were Vice Chairman of the National Assembly Le Minh Hoan; leaders of central ministries and branches; the Vietnam Farmers' Union and especially the presence of outstanding farmers and scientists of typical farmers.

The program "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers in 2025" is organized to honor and award titles to the most outstanding Vietnamese farmers in the fields, farms, in the emulation movement to build new rural areas and protect national security. These are all examples of dynamic and creative farmers in economic development; daring to think and act, exploiting and using effectively capital, labor, land resources, boldly applying science, technology and new technologies in production. They are truly beautiful symbols, representing millions of farmers across the country who are day and night producing, doing business, and innovating at the forefront of the process of developing the agricultural and rural economy and building new rural areas; are scientists with initiatives and research works that contribute to bringing many changes to farmers; helping agricultural production to be effective and sustainable.

The decision to confer the title to both outstanding farmers and farmers' scientists has profound meaning, demonstrating the close, dialectical, and mutual connection between the "two houses" (scientists and farmers). In particular, this year's honoring of the title "Farmer's Scientist" has great significance in the context of the Politburo's recent issuance of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, and digital transformation. The contributions of scientists are the decisive factor in creating breakthroughs in the fields of agriculture, farmers, and rural areas.

At the ceremony, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union honored and awarded the title of Outstanding Vietnamese Farmer to 63 outstanding individuals and honored 32 farmer scientists in 2025.

Congratulating the outstanding Vietnamese farmers and farmers' scientists who were honored, President Luong Cuong stated that throughout the history of the Vietnamese nation, our farmers have played a very important role and made great contributions in the process of reclaiming land, expanding territory, founding the country, building and defending the Fatherland.

The President affirmed that throughout the 95 years of construction, development and growth, under the leadership and direction of Uncle Ho and the Communist Party of Vietnam, the "Red Farmers' Association" now the Vietnam Farmers' Association has continuously grown, becoming a large political and social organization, representing the will, aspirations, legal and legitimate rights of the peasant class. The Association has made many great contributions to the struggle for national independence, national unification, and the construction and protection of the Fatherland.

The President expressed his appreciation for the examples of farmers who, starting from nothing, with diligence, creativity, perseverance, and hardship, strived to become billionaires on the fields, legitimately enriching themselves, their families, and their communities; pioneering farmers in digital transformation of agriculture, actively participating in inventions and innovations; examples of noble actions such as donating hundreds of square meters of land to build new rural areas, protect the country's borders, and many other outstanding and exemplary farmers.

On behalf of the Party and State leaders, the President warmly congratulated and commended the efforts, attempts and important contributions of outstanding farmers and "farmer scientists" in the cause of national construction and innovation.

The President also welcomed and commended the Vietnam Farmers' Union for its very practical initiative, proactively coordinating with ministries and branches to organize the program "Pride of Vietnamese Farmers", as well as the ceremony to honor and award the title "Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers" over the past 13 years, to recognize, encourage and promote typical advanced farmers, good people, good deeds in the patriotic emulation movement, agricultural development, new rural construction and national defense.

In the context of the world situation continuing to change in a complex and unpredictable manner, and domestically, besides opportunities and very favorable conditions, there are still many difficulties and challenges. The President said that to realize the two 100-year strategic goals, agriculture, farmers and rural areas play a very important role; they are the foundation and a great force contributing to socio-economic development, environmental protection, adaptation to climate change, maintaining political stability, ensuring national defense and security, preserving and promoting cultural values and Vietnamese people, meeting the requirements of international integration.

The President requested the Vietnam Farmers' Union to promote its glorious tradition of 95 years of establishment, development and growth. Farmers' Unions at all levels need to continue to perform well their role of representing the legitimate rights and interests of members and farmers; effectively implement the Party's guidelines and policies, and the State's policies and laws on agriculture, farmers and rural areas.

The President requested to continue successfully implementing the revolution of reorganizing the apparatus in the direction of streamlining - compactness - strength; effectiveness - efficiency, close to the people; strongly innovating the method of operation to build a strong Association in politics, ideology and organization, meeting the increasingly high requirements of the new development stage; at the same time, strengthening social supervision and criticism, contributing ideas to Party and government building, regularly dialogue, listen to farmers' opinions, promote and expand the initiative "Listening to farmers speak".

The President emphasized that the Vietnam Farmers' Union needs to promote emulation movements associated with new rural construction, especially the movement "Farmers compete in good production and business, unite to help each other get rich and sustainably reduce poverty", attracting a large number of members, farmers from all regions, ethnic groups, especially remote areas, and areas with many difficulties to participate; together build modern rural areas with synchronous socio-economic infrastructure; green, clean and beautiful environment; healthy and rich cultural life, imbued with national identity; political security, order and social safety are ensured, so that farmers in rural areas can have a better life.

The President hopes that the Association will continue to arouse and promote patriotism, self-confidence, self-reliance, self-control, and the desire to become rich legitimately; farmers must truly be the subject and center in agricultural development, rural economy, and new rural construction.

Emphasizing that the task of building the peasant class and consolidating a strong worker-farmer-intellectual alliance under the Party's leadership is a matter of principle and the foundation of the cause of "Great National Unity", the President requested that Farmers' Associations at all levels must have high determination, good measures, and closely coordinate with intellectuals and scientists to support and help farmers improve the quality of agricultural commodity production chains; at the same time, promote innovation, digital transformation in agriculture, protect the ecological environment; proactively integrate internationally and preserve national cultural identity.

The President hopes that the “Outstanding Vietnamese Farmers” and “Farmer Scientists” honored today will continue to write and spread inspirational stories; continue to contribute, maintain creative ways of doing things, and unite and help each other to become rich for themselves, their families and the country, and follow the teachings of beloved Uncle Ho: “Make sure the poor have enough to eat, those who have enough to eat are well-off and rich; those who are well-off and rich are richer.”

With the glorious tradition of 95 years of construction, development and growth, the President believes that with the spirit of solidarity, the will to be self-reliant of the Farmers' Association, the peasant class, the companionship of scientists; the attention, care, leadership and close direction of the Party and State; the Association will certainly reap even more brilliant successes, contributing to bringing our country firmly into a new era - an era of strong, prosperous and happy development of the Vietnamese people.

At the program, delegates enjoyed a special epic art program titled "Glory of Vietnamese Farmers" to recreate the 95-year journey of the Vietnamese peasant class accompanying the country, with extremely great contributions in each revolutionary stage of the country.
