General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited Aalto University, met with the Aalto University Board of Directors and met with Vietnamese students studying in Finland.

According to a special correspondent of the Vietnam News Agency, within the framework of an official visit to the Republic of Finland, at noon on October 22 (local time), General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam To Lam and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited Aalto University, met with the Aalto University leadership and met with Vietnamese students studying in Finland.

At the meeting with the Aalto University Board of Directors, Aalto University President Ilkka Niemela welcomed General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnamese high-ranking delegation to visit the university; welcomed the two countries' upgrading of relations to a Strategic Partnership and expressed confidence that the General Secretary's visit would create new momentum, contributing to strengthening and deepening the traditional friendship between the two countries in various fields, including education and training.

The President of Aalto University said that Aalto University is currently the leading university in Finland in terms of expertise, and is among the top 20 young universities in the world. Although it was only established in 2010, Aalto University has inherited a long tradition and academic heritage due to the merger of three of Finland's oldest and largest universities: Helsinki University of Technology (founded in 1849), Helsinki School of Economics (founded in 1904) and Helsinki University of Art and Design (founded in 1871).

Aalto University is famous for its diverse training programs in various fields, from high technology, industry to social and artistic fields. In particular, the school is famous for its expertise in the field of entrepreneurship and innovation. Aalto University is the cradle of many famous people, with high status and position in Finnish society in many fields.

The President of Aalto University expressed his impression of Vietnam's achievements in socio-economic development, education and training, and science and technology, and informed about cooperation activities with Vietnamese partners in recent years in the fields of education, training, and academic research; affirmed his desire and readiness to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese training and research institutions in the university's strengths such as artificial intelligence (AI), digital transformation, renewable energy, startups and innovation.

Aalto University President Ilkka Niemela highly appreciated the diligence, creativity and adaptability of Vietnamese students studying at the university.

In his welcoming speech and introduction to Espoo city, City President Mervi Katainen said that Espoo is the second largest city in Finland. In Espoo, science is a rapidly developing industry. There is Aalto University and many famous organizations and companies such as: Finnish Center for Research and Applied Science and Technology, world-famous telecommunications company Nokia, along with many high-tech companies located here.

General Secretary To Lam thanked the Aalto University Board of Directors for supporting the organization of the meaningful meeting; creating favorable conditions for Vietnamese students to study at the school, contributing to human resource training, research and knowledge transfer for Vietnam.

The General Secretary affirmed that the Party and State of Vietnam attach importance to and give top priority to creating breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, education and training, especially building high-quality human resources to contribute to bringing the country into a new era of development.

General Secretary To Lam suggested that the Aalto University Board of Directors continue to pay attention to and support the promotion of cooperation in undergraduate and postgraduate training, scientific research and technology transfer, and promote Aalto University's own strengths such as multidisciplinary education, combining business, science-technology and art, along with an educational philosophy that encourages creative thinking, entrepreneurial spirit and the ability to solve global problems, in line with Vietnam's development orientation in the new development stage.

At a meeting with students studying in Finland, General Secretary To Lam expressed that students studying in Finland are fortunate to have the opportunity to study and live in an advanced educational environment, especially in science, technology and innovation.

Sharing with students some messages of the Party and State on the country's development policies in the new era, the General Secretary emphasized that Vietnam and Finland have deep similarities in culture, human values ​​and aspirations. From a country with harsh climate and limited resources, Finland has become a developed country with a strong economic growth based on technology; one of the countries with the highest quality of life, social welfare and human happiness in the world.

These achievements are a testament to the power of knowledge and high-quality human resources of the beautiful country of Finland. Vietnamese people also have similar qualities, which are a strong will, a spirit of learning and progress. Overcoming many difficulties and challenges, Vietnam has risen to become an increasingly dynamic economy, with an increasingly high role and position in the international arena.

The General Secretary stated that over the past five decades, the cooperative relationship between the two countries has become increasingly close and has now been upgraded to the level of a strategic partnership, meeting the needs of each side. Looking to the future, the two countries will give priority to substantive cooperation, especially in education and training, science, technology, innovation and digital transformation.

Regarding the domestic situation, the General Secretary said that the Party recently issued Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development, which identified education as the top national policy and the key driving force for national development.

The General Secretary affirmed that students living and studying abroad play a very important role, as a bridge to spread knowledge, culture, national traditions and absorb the quintessence of humanity and international standards. Students need to always nurture their aspirations and passion for discovery, dare to think, dare to do, dare to experiment, consider their time studying in Finland as a good opportunity to learn and absorb the quintessence of culture, science and technology of Finland and the world; always seek new things and promote creativity.

The General Secretary hopes that students need to focus on application in research and study, linking theory with practice, shortening the distance from laboratories and lecture halls to meet practical needs. Students always look towards their homeland. The Party and State are building and implementing unique and outstanding mechanisms and policies to attract talents; will always welcome and create the most favorable conditions for students to contribute and dedicate. Vietnam especially encourages cooperation programs between universities in Finland, including Aalto University, with universities and educational institutions in Vietnam.

The General Secretary advised that students must live and study responsibly, unite in the Vietnamese community, integrate with the host country and get along with international friends; share and help each other to progress; and promote their role as intellectual bridges between Vietnam and Finland.

At the meeting, the representative of Vietnamese students at Aalto University, Le Uy Vu, spoke to accept the guidance and advice of General Secretary To Lam; at the same time, he expressed his efforts to study, unite, comply with the laws of Vietnam as well as the host country and the rules and regulations of the place where he studies; actively participate in the activities of the Association, the community, actively promote the image of the country and people of Vietnam to international friends, and bring the knowledge he has learned to contribute to his homeland and country.

On this occasion, General Secretary To Lam and the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation visited the Laboratory to create prototypes with research products serving climate and circular economy goals./.
