On the afternoon of February 25th, at the Party Central Headquarters, General Secretary To Lam received Mr. Frederick W. Smith, Founder and Executive Chairman of FedEx Corporation (USA).

In During the meeting, General Secretary To Lam welcomed Mr. Frederick W. Smith, Founder and Executive Chairman of FedEx Corporation, on his visit and working trip to Vietnam.

The General Secretary congratulated FedEx Corporation on its remarkable growth, becoming one of the world 's leading transportation corporations and playing a crucial role in the global supply chain.

The General Secretary highly appreciated the achievements of the corporation during its 30 years of operation in Vietnam, and thanked the Chairman and FedEx Corporation for their sentiments and contributions to Vietnam's socio-economic development.

The General Secretary assessed that Vietnam-US relations have made strong progress in recent times, especially in 2025 when the two countries celebrate the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and have recently upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

General Secretary To Lam shared that Vietnam is promoting three strategic breakthroughs, including a breakthrough in infrastructure. Accordingly, the General Secretary affirmed his support for FedEx to continue expanding its operations in Vietnam in areas of strength such as infrastructure, services, and transportation; contributing to the global supply chain and making Vietnam an important hub in the international logistics network.

The General Secretary requested FedEx to cooperate closely with relevant Vietnamese agencies to quickly and effectively implement its plan to expand business operations in Vietnam.

The General Secretary shared that 2025 is a year of paramount importance for Vietnam as it prepares to enter a phase of breakthrough development. Accordingly, the General Secretary expressed his hope that FedEx would prioritize the Vietnamese market, and that Vietnam would also prioritize partners with whom it has a long history of cooperation, such as FedEx.

For his part, Mr. Smith expressed his emotion at being able to return and witness firsthand the development and vibrant spirit of Vietnam and its people.

He was particularly impressed by Vietnam's development achievements, especially the strong development of infrastructure, as well as its exceptionally favorable geographical location, which are important factors enabling Vietnam to steadily advance on the path to becoming a dynamic economic center of the region.

Mr. Smith affirmed that FedEx Corporation is proud to have contributed to Vietnam's development over the past three decades. He believes that Vietnam has all the elements to become an important logistics hub for the region and the world.

Based on this, FedEx expressed its desire to further expand its operations in Vietnam, continuing to develop its activities at Tan Son Nhat and Noi Bai airports, as well as exploring expansion at Long Thanh and Gia Binh airports in the near future, thereby supporting Vietnam's economy in enhancing its transportation capacity and connectivity with global supply chains.

On the occasion of Vietnam Doctors' Day on February 27th, General Secretary To Lam expressed gratitude for FedEx Corporation's support in implementing programs to assist and treat many heart and eye patients in Vietnam over the years.

In particular, the General Secretary highly appreciated FedEx Corporation's sponsorship of St. Jude Children's Hospital, which has collaborated with the National Oncology Hospital and the Children's Hospital in treating childhood cancer for many years. The General Secretary considered this a very meaningful activity, helping to improve healthcare for many child patients and their families in Vietnam.

The General Secretary expressed his hope that FedEx Corporation and the hospital, with their strengths in treating childhood cancer, would further expand this very practical area of ​​cooperation, especially in helping Vietnamese hospitals develop specialized fields of pediatric cancer treatment.

Mr. Smith affirmed that FedEx has always wanted to contribute to socio-economic development in Vietnam and is honored to be a bridge to further promote and enhance cooperation between St. Jude Children's Hospital and Vietnamese hospitals.

He affirmed that upon returning to Vietnam, he would immediately discuss with the leadership of St. Jude Children's Hospital to plan specific support measures, with the aim of raising the cure rate for pediatric patients in Vietnam to 94%, the same as in the United States.
