According to the source, Mr. Geingob passed away late last month, however, the cause of the Namibian President's death was not specified. Previously, Mr. Geingob said he would go to the US for treatment after being diagnosed with cancer during a routine health check.
Along with his position as President of Namibia, Mr. Geingob has also been serving as Chairman of the ruling South West Africa People's Organization (SWAPO) party since being elected to the position in November 2017.
Namibia is scheduled to hold presidential and parliamentary elections by the end of 2024.
