President Putin test-pilots Mi-171A2 helicopter simulator

Russian President Vladimir Putin test-drove a simulator for Mi-171A2 helicopter pilots during a visit to the Russian Helicopters plant in the Republic of Buryatia (Russia), and attended a discussion on the development of cities in Russia's Far East.

The Mi-171A2 is a heavy multi-purpose helicopter developed by Russian Helicopters.

In the video posted, Mr. Putin sits in the pilot's seat, operating the helicopter to take off and fly over the city in Buryatia, then safely ends the test flight. The image on the helicopter screen records all of President Putin's operations.

President Putin tested the helicopter's controls. His flight operations were carried out with an instructor.

During a visit to Russian Helicopters, Putin stressed Russia's economic sovereignty in the face of harsh Western sanctions.

In late 2022, one of the factories of the Russian Helicopters Corporation (part of the Rostec State Corporation) began testing the first flight training simulator for the Mi-171A2 helicopter - one of the latest modifications and the next step in the development of the Mi-8/17 helicopter line.
