Toyota has just launched the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid in the Middle East market, starting from the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This is the first hybrid version of the Land Cruiser line, marking the transformation of the iconic SUV to electrification technology while still maintaining the "true off-road vehicle" quality. The heart of the Land Cruiser hybrid is a combination of a 3.5L twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engine and an electric motor, producing a total capacity of up to 457 horsepower, maximum torque of 790 Nm, equal to its luxury "brother" Lexus LX700h.
Power is sent to all four wheels through a 10-speed automatic transmission, making the SUV not only powerful but also smooth in all terrain conditions. Toyota says the hybrid system is specially tuned to match the Land Cruiser's traditional off-road capabilities, while delivering smooth and instantaneous throttle response even when driving over the most challenging terrain. The interior of the Land Cruiser hybrid has also been slightly improved to accommodate the new powertrain. The digital instrument cluster has been redesigned, with graphics specifically for hybrid mode, combined with a 12.3-inch central screen for entertainment and vehicle function control.
Toyota also added a power outlet in the luggage compartment, allowing users to charge electronic devices when going on a picnic or camping. However, the company has not yet announced the specific cargo compartment capacity. In terms of design, the hybrid version retains the characteristic tough, muscular style of the Land Cruiser 300, but with some minor changes. The VXR version has been slightly upgraded with a lowered front bumper and a revised air intake design. Meanwhile, the GR Sport version has no obvious changes in appearance. A special identifying feature is the "457 TT" logo on the side of the car, representing 457 horsepower, along with the HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle) logo on the rear door. In the UAE, the Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid has started taking orders, with prices starting at $106,200 (about more than VND 2.542 billion) for the VXR version and $111,600 (about VND 2.652 billion) for the GR Sport version.
Toyota has confirmed that the new-generation 2025 Land Cruiser 300 Hybrid SUV will also go on sale in Australia from the first half of 2026, and will likely soon be available in its home market of Japan. One notable change on the hybrid version is the reduced fuel tank, which is now 68 liters, compared to 80 liters on the standard petrol version. This is considered a reasonable trade-off to make room for the hybrid battery, although it may slightly affect the ability to travel long distances.
