The Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee has just sent an urgent report to the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee asking for opinions on the establishment of the Department of Food Safety according to Resolution 98 of the National Assembly on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City and Decree No. 158 of the Government.
According to the City People's Committee, after the Standing Committee of the City Party Committee reviews and gives opinions, the City People's Committee will report to the Government and the Prime Minister on the establishment of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety.
Also according to the City People's Committee, after 6 years of piloting, the establishment of the Department of Food Safety will maximize efficiency in food safety management in Ho Chi Minh City.
If established, Ho Chi Minh City is the only locality to date to have a Department of Food Safety.
Previously, on June 24, the National Assembly issued Resolution 98 on piloting a number of specific mechanisms and policies for the development of Ho Chi Minh City. Among them, it approved Ho Chi Minh City to establish the Department of Food Safety as a specialized agency to perform the function of advising and managing the State on food safety.
This is also the basis for the People's Committee to submit to the Ho Chi Minh City People's Council at the end of 2023 session the decision to establish the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Food Safety.
