According to the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, the enrollment quota for grade 10 in the 2025-2026 school year is calculated by the department to suit the reality of each district. In particular, areas such as District 12, Tan Binh, Hoc Mon District... with high student pressure will be calculated to push the enrollment quota for grade 10 in public high schools higher than other areas, ensuring a place for students to study.
In areas with stable annual school places such as Binh Chanh and Can Gio districts, the enrollment quota for grade 10 public high schools is assigned by the department according to the needs and proposals of the school.
In particular, suburban districts are building new rural areas, requiring all schools in the area to meet national standards. Therefore, there will be more control over the number of students than in other areas, so the quota for grade 10 will be calculated and adjusted accordingly.
Schools that enroll more than 1,000 students include: Marie Curie, Hung Vuong, Mac Dinh Chi. Some other schools that enroll 900 students or more are Gia Dinh, Tay Thanh, Tran Hung Dao, Nguyen Trung Truc, Hoang Hoa Tham, Truong Chinh.
The four schools with the least enrollment are Olympic Sports Gifted High School, Vietnam - Finland International School, Vietnam - Australia International School, Thanh An Secondary and High School, all with less than 100 students.
The highlight of the 2025 admission season is that Ho Chi Minh City plans to increase the rate of junior high school graduates entering grade 10 of public high schools.
Currently, the city has 88,772 ninth graders expected to graduate from junior high school, much less than last year. With about 67,000 tenth graders available, the public school admission rate is 75%, up 10% from last year.
In addition, the 2025-2026 school year is also the year that Ho Chi Minh City will stop enrolling in specialized 10th grade classes in 4 regular high schools: Mac Dinh Chi, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Thuong Hien and Nguyen Huu Huan high schools.
Therefore, the quota for specialized 10th grade classes of the two specialized high schools, Le Hong Phong and Tran Dai Nghia, will increase, in order to meet the learning needs of students as well as create conditions for students with outstanding abilities to have an environment to develop their strengths in suitable subjects and fields. Of which, Le Hong Phong Specialized High School will enroll 805 students, increasing 35 students for the specialized IT class; Tran Dai Nghia Specialized High School will enroll 525 students for specialized classes, increasing 70 students for the two specialized classes, math and chemistry.
Schools enrolling integrated English 10th graders include: Tran Dai Nghia High School, Bui Thi Xuan, Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Nguyen Huu Huan, Mac Dinh Chi, Saigon Practical High School, Nguyen Thuong Hien, Phu Nhuan, Gia Dinh, Nguyen Huu Cau.
The 10th grade entrance exam in 2025 in Ho Chi Minh City will take place on June 6 and 7.
Candidates will take 3 subjects including Literature, Math, English (and other foreign languages). Candidates will take the Math and Literature exams in 120 minutes and the foreign language exam in 90 minutes. Candidates applying to specialized schools will take an additional specialized subject exam (150 minutes).
Students can register for up to 8 wishes. The admission score for general classes is the total score of three subjects plus incentive and priority points (if any). For specialized classes, the formula is the total score of the three subjects above with coefficient 1, plus the score of the specialized subject exam with coefficient 2.
As for the ContinuingEducation Center, Thanh An Secondary and High School of Can Gio district, students are admitted based on their academic records.
