Thu Duc City is focusing on flood prevention for Thu Duc market area.

On the afternoon of May 15, at a press conference providing information on socio -economic issues in Ho Chi Minh City organized by the Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department of the City Party Committee in coordination with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City, Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi, Deputy Head of the Traffic and Public Works Department, Thu Duc City People's Committee, informed about solutions to prevent flooding on the roads around Thu Duc market.

According to Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi, due to the low-lying terrain, the Thu Duc market area is a basin area, water flows in from many directions such as from Hoang Dieu Street, Kha Van Can Street, from Binh Duong Province along the North-South railway and Pham Van Dong Street along Linh Tay Stream. In addition, from the Thu Duc intersection area along Vo Van Ngan Street to drain into Cau Ngang Canal and Thu Duc Canal. However, at Cau Ngang (on Kha Van Can Street intersecting with Cau Ngang Canal) with a narrow width of about 5.3m, it is a "bottleneck" position, water cannot drain into Thu Duc Canal in time, causing flooding...

In recent times, the People's Committee of Thu Duc City has implemented many solutions to reduce flooding in this area, such as dredging the drainage system of Le Van Ninh Street, which is covered with silted soil and sand, to increase the drainage capacity to Cau Ngang Canal; dredging and clearing the bed of Cau Ngang Canal; operating all tide-prevention valves on Cau Ngang Canal; checking, dredging and clearing the drainage system of Vo Van Ngan Street to ensure water collection and drainage according to the approved design; maintaining and dredging the drainage system of Duong Van Cam, Dang Thi Ranh and Kha Van Can Streets....

In addition, the project of constructing a drainage system along the railway in Linh Dong ward is being implemented, expected to be completed in July 2025; the project of dredging and renovating Cau Ngang canal is expected to be completed in July 2025. At the same time, many projects are being implemented such as: renovating the drainage system in Thu Duc market area; constructing a new Cau Ngang canal culvert; upgrading Tam Tam Xa road surface, alley 14 Tam Tam Xa and alley 57 Duong Van Cam street.

“Currently, Thu Duc is strengthening the disaster prevention shock force to proactively handle flooded areas according to the motto "4 on-site" and "3 ready", guiding people to circulate when heavy rain causes flooding in the Thu Duc market area, supporting people when flooded...", Mr. Nguyen Quang Chi informed and added that the Thu Duc City flood response team (consisting of 3 teams) with 3 water pumps, garbage collection to increase the drainage capacity of Duong Van Cam, Dang Thi Ranh, Kha Van Can streets, alley 17, alley 57 on Duong Van Cam street.
