According to the score distribution analysis from the Ministry of Education and Training , Ho Chi Minh City is in the top 10 provinces and cities with the highest average scores in 8/12 subjects. Notably, this locality has 1,321 exams with a score of 10, an increase of 185% compared to last year (463 scores of 10).
Accordingly, the Physics exam score ranked first in the country with 634 scores of 10. For Biology, Ho Chi Minh City led in absolute scores (20 exams scored 10), the average score was 6,287 - ranked 4th in the country. Chemistry had 58 scores of 10, ranked 3rd in the country. Math ranked 3rd in average score with 5,256 points and 43 exams scored 10.
In addition, Economics and Law, a new subject in this year's exam, also recorded positive results with 166 scores of 10, ranking 2nd nationwide, with an average score of 7.968 - ranking 3rd. Other social subjects such as History (6.686 points, 54 scores of 10), Geography (6.812 points, 311 scores of 10), Information Technology (7.257 points, 6 scores of 10) were all in the top group. Literature, with an average score of 7.07 - ranked 10th nationwide.
One of the big surprises this year was the drop in English. After many consecutive years of leading the country, Ho Chi Minh City fell to second place with an average score of 5.658, behind Hanoi (5.780). In terms of the number of 10-point scores for this subject, Ho Chi Minh City had 29 candidates achieving absolute scores, lower than Hanoi's 56 10-point scores.
Ho Chi Minh City has 99,578 candidates registered for the 2025 high school graduation exam, an increase of 8,891 students compared to last year. Of these, 97,940 candidates are following the 2018 General Education Program and 1,638 candidates are following the 2006 General Education Program. The number of independent candidates also increased by 5,000 students compared to 2024.
