Ho Chi Minh City develops socio-economy in conjunction with strengthening national defense and security

On November 3, the Ministry of National Defense 's inspection team inspected the implementation results of Decree 21/2019 of the Government on defense zones in Ho Chi Minh City for the period 2019-2023.

Receiving the delegation, comrade Nguyen Ho Hai, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, emphasized that the inspection work of the Ministry of National Defense and the Military Region is a regular and very practical activity to grasp the situation; promptly supplement the content and methods of construction and operation of the defense zone.

Comrade Nguyen Ho Hai also affirmed that in the coming time, the city will continue to thoroughly grasp and strictly implement the requirements on strengthening the building of political and spiritual potential in the defense zone. In particular, it is necessary to promote the combination of socio-economic development with strengthening national defense and security, creating material and technical resources to build an increasingly solid defense zone; ensuring that "each step of socio-economic growth is a step to strengthen national defense and security potential".

Specifically, the city prioritizes the development of key economic sectors and areas with potential and strengths; invests in developing modern infrastructure; implements zoning and planning of economic zones, industrial parks, and export processing zones in conjunction with the overall defense planning.

The city also builds armed forces with quantity and quality meeting mission requirements; leads and directs the implementation of tasks to build and operate the city's defense zone in a truly strong, disciplined and effective manner.

On this occasion, the inspection delegation of the Ministry of National Defense focused on inspecting and comprehensively evaluating the implementation of Decree 21, including inspecting the implementation work; drafting legal documents; the system of defense documents of military regions and defense areas; conditions to ensure effective implementation of tasks; inspection, preliminary and final review of emulation and reward work.

Senior Lieutenant General Huynh Chien Thang, member of the Party Central Committee, Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, Head of the inspection delegation, highly appreciated the results that Ho Chi Minh City has achieved in the past time. The Steering Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Defense Zone has thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented the Resolutions and Conclusions of the Politburo; built a specific action program, and planned the defense zone in accordance with the practical situation of the city.

The Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army emphasized that in the coming time, there needs to be more frequent coordination, exchange, and consultation among departments, branches, sectors, and armed forces of the city; early disbursement of public investment; and any projects that are slow to be implemented should have a plan to review and re-evaluate.
