To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations, the German Festival (Deutschlandfest) will take place from October 17 to 19 in the Hoan Kiem Lake area, Hanoi, including many cultural activities, music and culinary performances and the introduction of German products.
With the theme “Celebrating Joint Development Cooperation,” the festival is one of the highlight events contributing to the year-long series of commemorative activities on the occasion of 5 decades of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The official opening ceremony will take place at 7:30 p.m. on October 17, with the participation of German Ambassador to Vietnam Helga Margarete Barth, along with delegates from Vietnamese ministries, departments, agencies, German and international agencies and organizations, as well as development cooperation organizations based in Hanoi .
Around 40 German organisations and companies in the fields of development cooperation, the private sector, sports, culture and science will present their activities in a rich and attractive programme.

Ambassador Helga Margarete Barth said that over the past three decades, German development cooperation in Vietnam has accompanied the country's development process for the benefit of the Vietnamese people, from initial support in social security to the current focus on global challenges such as climate change, energy transition and sustainable growth.
After the opening night, over the two weekends, Dinh Tien Hoang Street will become a vibrant pedestrian street with exhibition spaces, interactive activities, cultural performances and culinary experiences. The festival is an opportunity to widely introduce to the public the strong partnership between Germany and Vietnam - a partnership based on mutual respect, equal cooperation and a common commitment to sustainable development.
Throughout the festival, an interactive exhibition presents German development cooperation in a new and engaging way. The festival is open to the public free of charge./.
The year 2025 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic relations (September 23, 1975 - September 23, 2025). On the basis of the strategic partnership, the two countries have continuously expanded comprehensive cooperation, achieved many important results, creating a strong driving force to bring bilateral relations to new heights.
