Regarding exports, all groups of goods exported to Germany recorded positive growth. Of which, the construction materials group increased by 86.8%, the agricultural and aquatic products group increased by 74% and the processed products group increased by 16.23%.
Regarding imports, major import items except chemicals all grew well. Specifically: Machinery, equipment, tools, and other spare parts (reaching 436.4 million USD, up 14%); pharmaceuticals (reaching 145.5 million USD, up 39.8%); chemicals (reaching 110.6 million USD, down 6.9%); chemical products (reaching 82.6 million USD, up 9.4%); computers, electronic products and components (reaching 56.3 million USD, up 16.9%); plastic products (reaching 30.8 million USD, up 18.7%); automobile components and spare parts (reaching 24.2 million USD, up 59.3%);
With the above statistics, Germany has returned to its position as Vietnam's largest trading partner in Europe after falling to second place in 2024.
The growth in Vietnam's trade turnover with Germany comes as the German economy has recorded positive signs. According to data from the German Federal Statistical Office, the country's GDP grew positively in the first quarter of 2025 (up 0.5% compared to the same period last 3 months) after 2 consecutive years of recession. Along with that, Germany's trade turnover also grew by nearly 3% when exports in the first 3 months of 2025 reached 394.3 billion Euros, up 0.9% and imports reached 339.7 billion Euros, up 5.1%.
