Golden Globe Awards 2024 to 10 Outstanding Young Scientists

On the evening of November 8, in Hanoi, the Central Youth Union coordinated with the Ministry of Science and Technology to organize the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award Ceremony and the 2024 Science and Technology Female Student Award.

The Golden Globe Science and Technology Award is presented annually to a maximum of 10 individuals who are young talents under the age of 35. The award is considered in 5 areas: Information technology, digital transformation and automation; Medical and pharmaceutical technology; Biotechnology; Environmental technology and New material technology.

In 2024, the Organizing Committee received 69 nominations (62 valid, 7 invalid) from 39 agencies, units, universities, research institutes, enterprises nationwide and the Vietnamese Embassy, ​​Vietnamese Youth and Student Association abroad.

Based on the Regulations and proposals of the Award Council, the Central Secretariat of the Youth Union has decided to award the 2024 Golden Globe Science and Technology Award to the 10 most outstanding young talents. Among them, there are 3 individuals in the field of Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation; 1 individual in Medical and Pharmaceutical Technology; 1 individual in Biotechnology, 2 individuals in Environmental Technology and 3 individuals in New Materials Technology.

Each award winner receives the “Creative Youth” Badge from the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, the Golden Globe Cup, a Certificate and a cash prize of 20 million VND.

According to Secretary of the Central Youth Union, President of the Central Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet, the Golden Globe Science and Technology Award not only recognizes young scientists with outstanding academic and research achievements, but these individuals also become symbols of determination, creativity and aspiration to conquer new heights of the young generation of Vietnam.

“I believe that with the support and encouragement from leaders at all levels, organizations and businesses, young scientists will continue to strive, study, research and innovate to continue to achieve greater achievements, spread the pioneering spirit in science and technology, create positive changes for society, and contribute to the development of the country in the 'era of national growth' of Vietnam,” emphasized Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet.

Secretary of the Central Youth Union Nguyen Minh Triet added that in addition to the Golden Globe Award, the Central Youth Union coordinated with the Ministry of Science and Technology to launch the Vietnam Female Science and Technology Student Award with the aim of discovering and honoring female students with achievements in science and technology, spreading the creative learning movement in schools. Thereby, contributing to the development of female human resources in the field of science and technology, proactively participating in the fourth industrial revolution and the national digital transformation.

In 2024, the Vietnam Science and Technology Female Student Award was revised, supplemented and expanded with 8 award groups, attracting a large number of female students to register to participate.

From 114 applications recommended for the award, based on the working results and proposals of the Award Council, the Central Youth Union Secretariat decided to award the 2024 Award to 20 outstanding female students.

These are all female students with excellent academic achievements, articles published in prestigious domestic and international magazines, conferences and seminars, and participation in highly practical school-level scientific research topics.

Many female students have won high prizes in innovation and programming competitions at home and abroad, received scholarships and study exchange programs at home and abroad, are exemplary members of the Youth Union and Association, actively participate in volunteer activities for the community, and received certificates of merit at all levels such as: January Star Award, 5 Good Students at the Central and City levels; Outstanding Youth studying and following Uncle Ho's teachings; Excellent Youth Union and Association cadres at school, provincial and central levels.

Each female student winning the Award was awarded a Certificate of Merit from the Central Executive Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union , an Award logo and a cash prize.

The 10 individuals receiving the 2024 Golden Globe Science and Technology Award include:

Information Technology, Digital Transformation and Automation (3 individuals):

1. Dr. Ngo Khac Hoang (born 1992), Assistant Professor, Linköping University, Kingdom of Sweden

2. Dr. Nguyen Van Son (born in 1993), Lecturer, Faculty of Information Technology, University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi

3. Dr. Le Kim Hung (born in 1990), Head of Department of Communication, Faculty of Computer Networks and Communications, University of Information Technology, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Medical Technology (1 individual):

4. Dr. Nguyen Phuoc Vinh (born in 1994), Head of Science, Technology and International Cooperation Department, Deputy Dean of Pharmacy Faculty, University of Health Sciences, Ho Chi Minh City National University.

Biotechnology field (1 individual):

5. Dr. Le Ba Vinh (born in 1993), Researcher at School of Pharmacy, Korea University, Korea.

Environmental Technology (2 individuals):

6. Dr. Vo Truong Giang (born in 1991), Researcher, Institute for Chemical, Energy and Environmental Sustainability, Singapore Agency for Science, Technology and Research

7. Dr. Truong Hai Bang (born in 1990), Researcher, Institute of Advanced Science and Technology, Van Lang University

New Materials Technology (3 individuals):

8. Dr. Pham Thanh Tuan Anh (born in 1992), Deputy Head of High-Tech Materials Laboratory, University of Science, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City

9. Dr. Nguyen Viet Huong (born in 1990), Deputy Head of the Faculty of Materials Science and Engineering, Phenikaa University

10. Dr. Tran Ngoc Quang (born in 1990), Researcher at the Center for Research on Nanostructured and Molecular Materials, Ho Chi Minh City National University.
