On October 18, 2025, Hanoi National University of Education 2 (HPU2) in collaboration with Can Tho University, Southeast Asia Agricultural Technology Association (Thailand), Agricultural Research Station (India) organized the International Scientific Conference "Biotechnology for Green and Sustainable Development", attracting many domestic and international scholars and researchers to attend and submit reports.

In his opening speech at the workshop, Dr. Cao Ba Cuong - Vice Principal of Hanoi National University of Education 2 affirmed: Humanity is facing enormous challenges, namely climate change, biodiversity loss, environmental pollution, and the urgent need for green and sustainable development.
In that context, biotechnology increasingly affirms its key role in providing environmentally friendly, creative and highly applicable solutions, contributing to creating a green and sustainable future for the planet.

The international conference “Biotechnology for green and sustainable development” is organized with the desire to create an academic forum where scientists , lecturers, researchers and students share knowledge, experience and research achievements, together aiming at the goal of developing science for human development and for nature.
This is also an activity to concretize the spirit of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation; Decision No. 1131/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister approving the List of national strategic technologies and technology products, in which advanced biotechnology and biomedicine are identified as top priority areas.
“I believe that through this Conference, we will together find new knowledge, new ideas, new cooperative relationships, contributing to promoting innovation and applying biotechnology for a green, clean, sustainable future for Vietnam and the world,” Dr. Cao Ba Cuong shared.

At the plenary session, chaired by Prof. Kasem Soytong (Southeast Asia Agricultural Technology Association) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dac Khoa (Can Tho University), delegates heard 3 important reports:
Report “ Modern Organic Agriculture for Sustainable Development and Organic Certification from Farm to Table” by Prof. Kasem Soytong (Southeast Asia Agricultural Technology Association); report “ The Millets - The Miracle Grains: The Climate Resilient Crops for Nutritional Security in the 21st Century” by Dr. Samuel SK Patro (Agricultural Research Station, India); report “ Unraveling Mechanisms of Abiotic Stress Response in Rice: From GWAS to Functional Genomics” by Assoc. Prof. Dr. To Thi Mai Huong (Hanoi University of Science and Technology).

After the Plenary Session, the Workshop continued with a Parallel Session, consisting of 2 sub-committees.
The first subcommittee with the topic " Plant Biotechnology & Sustainable Agriculture", co-chaired by Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Dac Khoa - Can Tho University and Associate Professor, Dr. To Thi Mai Huong - Hanoi University of Science and Technology.
The second sub-committee with the topic “Applied Biotechnology & Functional Foods ”, co-chaired by Dr. Samuel SK Patro - Agricultural Research Station (India) and Associate Professor Dr. Do Tan Khang - Can Tho University.

At the discussion session, delegates discussed issues such as: Agricultural biotechnology; Microbiology - Enzyme - Protein; Cell and molecular technology; Medical and pharmaceutical biotechnology; Environmental biotechnology, application of digital technology in agriculture and life sciences,...
These are fields that not only demonstrate the diversity and depth of biotechnology but also contribute directly to the implementation of the country's green and sustainable development goals.

The International Conference "Biotechnology for Green and Sustainable Development" had 46 abstracts, 24 full-text papers were reviewed and published in the proceedings with ISBN. Within the framework of the conference, a seminar was also organized by the speaker Dr. Samuel SK Patro (India).
At the conference, many sideline activities took place, notably the signing ceremony of a memorandum of understanding between the Institute of Scientific Research and Application - Hanoi National University of Education 2 and the Institute of Modern Organic Agriculture Research (under the Southeast Asian Agricultural Technology Association). The purpose of the signing is to promote cooperation in scientific research, academic exchange, education and innovation between the two sides, focusing on modern organic agriculture, biotechnology and sustainable development.
Specifically, the two sides agreed to cooperate in the following areas: Exchange of lecturers, scientists and students; implementation of joint research topics and scientific publications; co-organization of workshops, conferences and scientific seminars; development of programs on modern organic agriculture and biotechnology; cooperation in training graduate students, doctoral students and short-term training courses; cooperation in implementing technology transfer projects and community initiatives; other areas of cooperation that the two sides agree on in the future.
After a day of active work, the International Scientific Conference “Biotechnology for Green and Sustainable Development” was a great success, becoming a bridge to promote research cooperation and technology transfer between research institutes, universities and enterprises in the field of biotechnology; thereby contributing to the formation of an interdisciplinary and international research network for the goal of green and sustainable development.
The workshop contributes to improving the quality of training, scientific research and innovation in the field of biotechnology through updating new knowledge, global development trends and domestic strategic orientations.
The workshop also aimed to affirm the important role of biotechnology in the modernization process, green economic development, and circular economy, in line with the United Nations' sustainable development goals.
The international scientific conference “Biotechnology for green and sustainable development” is one of the activities towards the 58th anniversary of establishment and 50 years of training at Xuan Hoa of Hanoi National University of Education 2. These are important milestones, affirming the sustainable development, research capacity and academic reputation of the University in the fields of training, science and international cooperation.
