On December 5, the teachers and students of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Primary School (Ba Diem Commune, Ho Chi Minh City) donated more than 4,300 white notebooks, 3 backpacks, 300 school supplies and more than 12 million VND to the program "Collecting notebooks for students in disaster-affected areas" organized by Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper.
"I feel sorry for you guys!"
At the fundraiser, groups of students took turns sending their love to their friends in the flood-affected areas. The notebooks were neatly arranged on the tables, some of which were even wrapped in reward paper. Some of the gift bags were lovingly decorated, containing notebooks, pencils and encouraging messages.

Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Primary School donated 4,372 notebooks, 3 backpacks, 300 school supplies and 12,663,000 VND.

The first students enthusiastically donated notebooks to the program.

Many stacks of blank notebooks that are still "unopened" have been given to students in flood-affected areas.
Nguyen Ngoc Ky Duyen, a student of class 5/1, said that the whole class had packed a lot of blank notebooks. In addition, many parents also sent new school supplies such as boards, pencil cases, rulers, and backpacks.
"I feel sorry for my friends. Every year I only use a few of the reward books, the rest I save to encourage myself to study hard. However, this year, I will send all my "fortune" to the Central region to give to my friends" - Duyen shared.
Do Cao Quy, a student of class 4/1, said he donated 100 white notebooks and 500,000 VND.
"This is the lucky money I asked my parents to save for me. When I heard that my friends in the flooded area no longer had their notebooks and everything was swept away, I asked my parents for some money to give to them. I hope they can go back to school soon" - Quy said.

Students excitedly prepare meaningful gifts

Pencils, backpacks, comics, crayons,... all the "assets" were packed up and sent to the Central region by the children.

"I hope that when you receive these gifts, you can be a little happier. If you are sad, you can take out some crayons and paper to draw or read comics," said one student.
Lao Dong Newspaper is a bridge of love
Ms. Nguyen Huynh Phuong Dung, Secretary of the Youth Union of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Primary School, said that in this fundraising campaign, there are two very special students. Despite their difficult circumstances, both of them want to contribute a little.
In October 2025, the Lao Dong Newspaper published an article "The heartbreaking situation of three orphaned children who both go to school and sell lottery tickets". Immediately after that, two biological sisters, Bao Anh and An Nhien, who were studying at the school, were supported by many benefactors, helping them go to school and no longer sell lottery tickets for a living.
When the Lao Dong Newspaper launched the program "Collecting notebooks for students in disaster-stricken areas", two sisters Bao Anh and An Nhien, along with their cousin Thanh Nhan, who are studying at the same school, also enthusiastically contributed notebooks to students in the Central region.
"Although the children still face many difficulties, through the program and the images published in newspapers and radio, they somewhat understand the difficulties and really want to share," said Ms. Dung.

Teachers donate to support students in disaster areas

Mr. Tran Cong Thanh, Principal of Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Primary School, said that the school received information from the People's Committee of Ba Diem commune and launched a fundraising campaign since the end of November, but it was only today that it was able to fully summarize the results.
"Unlike high schools and middle schools, primary schools need more time. Some students want to prepare their own gifts, not just buy new notebooks. They carefully wrapped each notebook, selected each pencil case, backpack... Hopefully, when the students in the Central region receive these gifts, they will be able to study with peace of mind," said Mr. Thanh.
Up to now, schools in Ba Diem commune, Ho Chi Minh City have supported the program "Collecting notebooks for students in disaster-affected areas" of Nguoi Lao Dong Newspaper with more than 17,200 notebooks and more than 40 million VND.
