Accordingly, the Chairman of Lao Cai province requested units in the area to closely follow the theme of International Day for Biological Diversity and World Environment Day 2023 launched by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment to carry out appropriate activities. Focus on synchronously implementing the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection 2020, the Law on Biodiversity 2008 and guiding documents for implementation. Continue to perfect the system of regulations on environmental protection in Lao Cai province.

Strengthen the mobilization of resources and economic tools in environmental protection. Focus on reviewing and appraising legal documents on the environment, focusing on projects with sensitive environmental factors (projects using two-crop rice fields, forest land, projects with potential risks of causing pollution, with major impacts on the environment (mining projects, hydropower projects, industrial projects...).

Strengthen control over waste collection, transportation and treatment, focus resources to thoroughly resolve environmental pollution problems from waste that directly affect people's lives and livelihoods; encourage organizations to start, build and hand over environmental protection works to serve the interests of the community.

Lao Cai strengthens and focuses resources during peak month of environmental protection

Strengthening nature and biodiversity conservation, focusing on assessing and conserving natural heritages according to the provisions of the Law on Environmental Protection; promoting the implementation of conservation and sustainable use models; applying the ecosystem approach in river basin management, sustainable forest management, focusing on the role and interests of the community. Restoring degraded ecosystems; protecting natural landscapes and biodiversity; conserving species and genetic resources. Implementing programs, projects and tasks for ecosystem restoration.

Strengthen inspection and control of wildlife trade, exploitation of migratory wildlife, and compliance with environmental protection laws. Maintain and promote the effectiveness of the hotline to receive and process information, feedback and recommendations from organizations and individuals on environmental pollution in order to promptly detect and handle environmental pollution incidents at the grassroots level.

In particular, focusing on subjects with high risk of causing environmental pollution, areas where environmental pollution hotspots have appeared (industrial production projects in Tang Loong industrial park; large-scale mineral exploitation areas such as Sin Quyen - Bat Xat copper, Apatite exploitation in Lao Cai city, Bat Xat district, heavy metal exploitation in Van Ban district; concentrated livestock areas, basic construction projects in urban areas...); thoroughly handling arising pollution problems.

It is known that this year's communication method will be innovated through creativity, innovation in implementation methods, communication forms, and application of information technology. On the launching day of June 2, Lao Cai Provincial People's Committee will organize the release of young animals back to nature in response to the month of action for the environment; organize the running activity "Run for a green future" to spread the determination to protect the environment in the community, run together for health and living environment, join hands to create useful values for society and together move towards a greener, cleaner, and more beautiful life in the future.
