Effectively implementing the Vietnam - US Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

On the afternoon of April 2 (local time), while participating in the Vietnam Executive Leadership Program (VELP) in Boston, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai had a meeting with US Trade Representative Katherine Tai and met with prominent Vietnamese intellectuals.

According to a VNA correspondent in the United States, in an exchange with the US Trade Representative, Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai said that Vietnam's consistent policy is to build an independent and self-reliant economy , associated with proactive and active international integration, deeply, substantially and effectively; emphasizing that the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between the two countries established in September 2023 will create new space and momentum for cooperation between the two countries in many fields.

The Deputy Prime Minister suggested that the two countries continue to effectively implement the framework of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, especially in key areas such as economics, trade and investment and breakthrough areas such as science and technology, innovation,education and training, saying that the two sides need to continue to concretize cooperation to bring practical benefits to businesses and people of the two countries.

Ms. Katherine Tai expressed her delight at the development of Vietnam-US relations since the two countries upgraded to Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, affirming that they will actively coordinate to implement the contents agreed upon in the Joint Statement, especially in the fields of economics, trade and investment.

She hopes to continue promoting bilateral cooperation through the Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) and in the negotiations of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF) in the coming time.

Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai also met with representatives of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals, including professors, doctors, and experts in the fields of science and technology such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, finance, medicine, law, etc., who are working and teaching at Harvard University and prestigious companies and associations in Boston.

Representatives of overseas Vietnamese intellectuals highly appreciated Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements; believed that Vietnam's position and prestige in the international arena continued to be enhanced, especially after Vietnam and the United States upgraded their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; affirmed that they are always proud of and look towards their homeland and country.

Overseas Vietnamese intellectuals present at the meeting expressed their wish that the National Assembly and the Vietnamese Government would create more favorable conditions in terms of mechanisms and policies for overseas Vietnamese to contribute more to the country, and at the same time made a number of recommendations and proposals related to the fields of semiconductors, artificial intelligence, biotechnology, financial market development, etc., saying that Vietnam has the opportunity to narrow and catch up with other countries in terms of science and technology, especially in emerging scientific fields.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, the Deputy Prime Minister informed about the country's recent economic, social and foreign affairs achievements; said that the Vietnamese Government is resolutely implementing the goals in the 5-year socio-economic development plan, in which priority is given to the development of science and technology, innovation, especially in areas such as electronics - semiconductor industry, artificial intelligence.

The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that the Party, State and Government always consider the overseas Vietnamese community as an integral part of their family; highly appreciate and hope that the community will continue to have specific projects and activities that actively contribute to the implementation of Vietnam's socio-economic development priorities.

Taking note of the opinions, wishes and proposals of the people, the Deputy Prime Minister assigned relevant ministries, branches and agencies to study and absorb them in the process of proposing policy solutions in the coming time.
