In 2023, the district's agricultural and forestry economy continued to grow steadily. The total cultivated area reached more than 38,300 hectares. Trade promotion and agricultural product consumption activities were strengthened, with agricultural product consumption reaching more than 98,400 tons. The district was granted 2 new growing area codes, bringing the total growing area codes to 48 codes, with 481 hectares. Fruit tree planting models with high economic value were replicated; some new models are being formed and developed, such as: Phuc trang rice I1, sticky rice tan luong, pineapple Queen, sweet corn, macadamia... Maintaining the activities of cooperatives and 2 longan processing villages. Organizing the re-evaluation of 3 OCOP products and 4 products evaluated for the first time all achieved 3-star OCOP products at the district level. Maintaining the breeding of over 1.3 million livestock and poultry. Plant 456 hectares of new forests and better protect 67,000 hectares of existing forests, increasing forest cover to 41.2%.

Implementing the new rural construction program, achieving an average of 13.2 criteria/commune. Muong Sai commune meets the new rural standards by the end of 2023; building 3 communes of Chieng Khuong, Muong Lam, Chieng So to achieve advanced new rural standards. Disaster prevention and control, search and rescue, and response to drought and water shortage risks are implemented promptly. 100% of the urban population and 61.1% of the rural population have access to clean water...

In 2024, the district will continue to shift the structure of agricultural and rural production towards sustainability associated with environmental protection. Develop agriculture and forestry in an organic direction, produce according to linked value chains, and consume safe agricultural products. Form and develop livestock farming areas suitable to local advantages. Strive for grain output to reach more than 73,800 tons; plant 65 hectares of new fruit trees; plant new concentrated forest areas, increase forest cover to 41.6%; develop large livestock herds to 69,000 heads. Establish 2 new cooperatives operating in the agricultural sector.
