Special exhibition "Da Nang - Echoes of the past"

VHO - On July 11, Da Nang Museum, in collaboration with organizations and private collectors, organized a thematic exhibition "Da Nang - Echoes of the past".

This is the first exhibition with the joint participation of many collectors from the three regions of North, Central and South.

Accordingly, collectors across the country belonging to Antique Associations such as: Thang Long - Hanoi Antique Association; Dong Xua - Hai Duong Antique Association; Pho Hien - Hung Yen Antique Club; Ho Chi Minh City Antique Association; private collectors in Da Nang city... contributed and introduced more than 200 antiques of various types and materials, dating from the 15th century to the Nguyen Dynasty.

The exhibition contributes to honoring the special value of antiques, while also encouraging organizations and individuals to join hands in socializing activities to protect and promote the value of cultural heritage, serving the public's enjoyment needs.

In the exhibition “Da Nang - Echoes of the past” at the Da Nang Museum, each antique contains many elements of art, history and its own stories, displayed by each collector, so that the public can easily learn.

According to Director of Da Nang Museum Huynh Dinh Quoc Thien, to collect an artifact is difficult, to collect a collection is even more difficult, requiring each collector to spend effort, money, and time to search and research. However, having an antique in hand does not mean storing it in a warehouse for preservation and storage, but it is necessary to make it a "living" antique, promoting the value of antiques in modern times.  

With special content, the exhibition attracts many experts and antique researchers to admire and learn.

“Currently, many antiques are found, preserved, and kept in museums, organizations, and individuals collecting them all over the country, but there are also many valuable antiques still wandering abroad. To introduce valuable antiques to the public, a number of exhibitions have been held and received the attention of the general public and antique lovers in particular.

During this period, Da Nang Museum received 96 antiques from 16 private collectors with diverse types of pottery from the Ly-Tran period, Chu Dau pottery, Nguyen-style porcelain, enamelware or ancient Vietnamese household items...

Typical examples include: Bronze incense burner (19th century) by Collector Hoang Van Kim, enamelware by Collector Tran Dinh Nam, ceramic bowl from Ly - Tran period by Collector Tran Thanh Hai, bronze axe of Dong Son culture, bowl from Tran period by Collector Pham Van Dan... and many other unique artifacts.

All artifacts will be preserved, conserved, displayed and promoted in the best way possible so that these valuable contributions can spread to the general public and the tourist community,” said Mr. Thien.
