Hanoi in the last days of August has a beauty that is both peaceful and exciting. At Ba Dinh Square – the heart of the capital and the whole country – the atmosphere before the parade rehearsal on the morning of August 30 is becoming especially vibrant, bustling but still solemn and sacred.
The sky was clear blue, a gentle breeze blew, making the red flags with yellow stars flutter all over the sky, dyeing the space red with the colors of the Fatherland. In that scene, each face was radiant with excitement, each eye shining with national pride.
From Hai Phong, Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh Chung's group of 10 people also arrived in Hanoi at noon on August 29. All of them wore red flag shirts with yellow stars, excitedly mingling with the crowd of people in red.
Ms. Chung was moved: “To witness this with our own eyes and stand in this exciting atmosphere, our whole group felt extremely happy. This is an experience that everyone will surely remember forever.”
Not only the people, but also the art troupes took the opportunity to immerse themselves in this special atmosphere. Ms. Phan Viet Hang, Head of the Hoa Champa Art Troupe, and her fellow performers in ao dai printed with the red flag with a yellow star, gracefully posed for photos right in the Square.
“We are lucky to be nearby and have the opportunity to immerse ourselves in the sacred atmosphere of these historic days. The whole group wants to record the emotional and proud moments when standing in the middle of Ba Dinh Square this autumn,” Ms. Hang shared.
Meanwhile, the press and television crews were also rushing to prepare for the big moment. Under the harsh noon sun, Mr. Pham Hong Phong and the filming crew of Hanoi Radio and Television Station were still diligently checking every detail of the camera, sound, and transmission line.
“We have been here since this morning to prepare for the live broadcast. Everyone wants to bring the best frames, reflecting the heroic and solemn atmosphere of the ceremony. Working on the national festival is a great honor, so everyone is trying their best,” said Mr. Phong.
All blend together to create a vivid picture of Ba Dinh Square in the waiting moments. There is both the solemnity of a sacred space - where the sacred soul of the mountains and rivers is calmed, and the excitement and joy of reunion, of the love for the Fatherland surging in every heart.
Ba Dinh Square is ready for the parade rehearsal taking place at 6am on August 30th - the last ceremony before the parade celebrating the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2nd officially takes place at 6am on September 2nd - a great festival of the country and the entire nation.
