That is the Ho Dynasty (1400-1407).

The Ho Dynasty began when Ho Quy Ly - a general under the Tran Dynasty - took over the country from the Tran Dynasty and ascended the throne in 1400.

Being a talented and ambitious person, after ascending the throne, Ho Quy Ly changed the country's name to Dai Ngu, expressing his desire for a peaceful and vast country. After reigning for a year, Ho Quy Ly handed the throne to his second son, Ho Han Thuong, to become the Supreme Emperor, but still decisive in all matters.

In order to overcome the consequences of the social crisis at the end of the Tran Dynasty, with the desire to build a strong and prosperous country, the Ho Dynasty gradually carried out a large-scale reform in all aspects. In particular, the Ho Dynasty introduced paper money into circulation for the first time in our country in 1396, replacing the previous metal money. It can be said that this innovation of Ho Quy Ly was a great step forward with a far-sighted vision.

During the Ho Dynasty, our country had many achievements in science and technology, the invention of the divine gun, the two-story warship, and the systematic irrigation system. Especially during this period, many unique architectural works were completed such as the Nam Giao altar and Bao Thanh palace.

A typical example is Tay Do citadel, also known as Ho Dynasty citadel, which was the capital of Ho Quy Ly after he ascended the throne. This is considered the most unique citadel in Southeast Asia and was recognized by UNESCO as a world cultural heritage in 2011.

Unfortunately, the Ho Dynasty's reforms did not achieve much results before they were ended by the Ming invasion. In 1407, Ho Quy Ly and his son Ho Han Thuong were captured by the Ming army. The Ho Dynasty was destroyed from here.
