The average rice yield reached 61.46 quintals/ha, an increase of 9.2 quintals/ha compared to 2022. The livestock industry continues to shift in the right direction from small-scale, dispersed farming to farm farming, applying high technology, and linking production in line with the district's livestock development strategy for the period 2021-2030, with a vision to 2045.

Currently, the district has 56 livestock farms of farm scale, including 41 small-scale farms, 14 medium-scale farms, and 1 large-scale farm. The planted forest area is well developed, of which more than 1,000 hectares of forest are certified by FSC and VFCS. In 2023, the output of exploited planted forest wood will reach 204,000m3.

Regarding aquaculture, the District People's Committee has directed investment and upgrading of infrastructure for intensive farming, maintaining high-tech shrimp farming models, 2-3-phase shrimp farming models, and switching low-tide shrimp farming areas to mixed farming. Aquaculture output in 2023 will reach more than 2,160 tons, and seafood exploitation will reach more than 3,500 tons, ensuring the set plan.

Many solutions to be implemented in 2024

In 2024, Trieu Phong District People's Committee determined to continue restructuring the economy associated with growth model innovation, improving productivity, quality, efficiency and competitiveness of the economy, striving to achieve a total production value increase of 13-14% in all sectors; average income per capita reaching 75 million VND.

Continue to direct localities to effectively implement the work of converting crop structure, accumulating land, and enhancing the transfer of scientific and technical advances to develop agriculture. Focus on converting rice varieties towards short-term, high-yield, in which high-quality rice accounts for over 80% of the area, while simultaneously building large fields combined with promoting the application of integrated pest management programs on key crops with high economic value and export potential. Maintain and develop livestock and poultry, focusing on linking livestock farming with product consumption, meeting consumers' demand for clean products.

Regarding forestry, strongly develop the model of planting large timber trees, expand the area of FSC and VFCS registered forests as well as provide financial support and encourage places with conditions to convert forest land to grow fruit trees and medicinal plants to improve economic efficiency.

Regarding fisheries, the district promotes 2- and 3-phase shrimp farming and rearing projects in coastal and riverside areas, applying shrimp farming processes using biological products and probiotics, limiting the use of antibiotics to build sustainable shrimp farming areas, clean raw shrimp, and at the same time developing the farming of high-value brackish and saltwater fish species such as grouper, cobia, silver pomfret, whale, and pomfret in coastal and riverside farming areas.

Along with that, encourage people to combine fish farming with shrimp or crab in riverside shrimp farming areas that are often affected by diseases and have low efficiency to avoid risks as well as introduce high-value aquatic species into farming, actively direct the exchange of areas, build and arrange a reasonable pond system. On the other hand, mobilize resources to invest in building infrastructure for farming areas such as production electricity systems, traffic roads, water supply and drainage systems, and wastewater treatment pond systems before discharging into the environment.

In addition to traditional fish farming, other farming species will be diversified, with priority given to those with high economic value such as climbing fish and giant freshwater prawns. Continue to focus on implementing measures to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing, aiming at sustainable and effective marine fisheries development. Actively mobilize and encourage fishermen to increase their offshore fishing, invest in upgrading and converting boats and fishing gear to reach offshore fishing grounds.

In the fields of industry - handicrafts, trade - services, the district continues to effectively implement Resolution No. 08 dated April 28, 2022 of the District Party Committee. Accordingly, it will strengthen inspection and support the production activities of enterprises and production establishments, at the same time call for investment projects in the district and complete the dossier to submit to competent authorities for approval to establish Tay Trieu Phong Industrial Cluster.

Strengthening state management of markets and commercial business locations as well as implementing market solutions well to remove difficulties and create favorable conditions for businesses and production establishments in the area to expand product consumption markets...
