Yesterday, during the physical test to prepare for the new season, while the referees were doing a 4km physical run, Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh suddenly fainted. The doctors there immediately performed first aid on him. Active resuscitation measures on respiratory circulation were also applied. After that, the 43-year-old referee was taken to Bach Mai hospital for emergency treatment.

Despite the doctors' best efforts to save him, Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh could not survive. He passed away at 02:00 this morning (August 4). Referee Dinh Thinh was taken to Dong Nai by his family and relevant agencies for funeral arrangements.

The sudden passing of this referee was a shock to football in particular and Vietnamese sports in general. Referee Tran Dinh Thinh was born in 1982, from Dong Nai. He was highly regarded for his expertise. Mr. Tran Dinh Thinh was once a prestigious referee, the winner of the "Silver Whistle" award for the second best referee of the year in Vietnamese football.

According to VFF General Secretary Nguyen Van Phu, Mr. Thinh's passing is a great loss to Vietnamese football, especially to the referee force of Vietnam's football systems. "Mr. Thinh is professional, serious in his work, and is loved by all his colleagues. His passing leaves a great void and unspeakable pain. VFF will coordinate with VPF to organize the funeral in the most solemn and meaningful way," said Mr. Nguyen Van Phu.
