Japan Ground Self-Defense Force helicopter missing

Kyodo on April 6 quoted the Japan Coast Guard as saying that a Ground Self-Defense Force (GSDF) helicopter went missing on the same day while carrying 10 people, including two pilots, two technicians and six others.

According to the announcement, the UH-60 multi-purpose helicopter disappeared from the radar screen at 4:40 p.m. local time while it was about 18 kilometers northwest of Miyako Island in Okinawa Prefecture. A source from the Japanese Defense Ministry added that the missing helicopter was deployed at the Takayubaru base in Kumamoto Prefecture, southwest Japan, and was participating in surveillance activities.

Black box of crashed helicopter found
