Báo Giao thôngBáo Giao thông06/12/2024

On the morning of December 6, Giao thong Newspaper organized a discussion on "Regulations on inter-provincial passenger transport routes in Hanoi : Keep or remove?" with the participation of management agencies, transport associations and experts.

The Hanoi People's Committee has just approved the proposal of the Hanoi Department of Transport to allow a transport enterprise to pilot a new transport route from Giap Bat bus station to Lao Cai bus station, Sa Pa bus station and the route from Nuoc Ngam bus station to Sa Pa bus station on the basis of registering a fixed route exploitation plan, not operating during rush hours in Hanoi to avoid traffic congestion.

Since 2017, Hanoi has been arranging inter-provincial passenger transport routes according to the plan of dividing the traffic flow from which direction to the first station of that direction. In other words, passenger cars coming from the East, West, South, and North will enter the bus stations located in the corresponding locations of East, West, South, and North of Hanoi.

For example, buses from Yen Bai and Lao Cai provinces will enter My Dinh bus station; buses from southern provinces such as Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, etc. will enter Nuoc Ngam and Giap Bat bus stations.

Regarding this issue, Giao Thong Newspaper has published a number of related articles and received much attention from readers, experts, and transport businesses.

Some people think that the approval of the pilot transport route will affect the regulations on transport routes that Hanoi has announced. Is it a prerequisite to abolish the current transport route regulations? And how can we avoid the situation of passenger cars "circumventing regulations" running through the city center?

Others support, saying that it will serve the needs of passengers and people well, but the management agency needs to have a specific management solution for this pilot activity of the transport enterprise, to avoid unfair competition, or an explosion of illegal buses and stations like the operation of disguised contract buses that has been happening recently, and to date there has been no effective solution.

Guests attending the discussion:

1. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Thuy, Deputy Director of Transport Department, Ministry of Transport

2. Mr. Nguyen Tuyen, Head of Transport Management Department, Hanoi Department of Transport

3. Representative of Traffic Police Department of Hanoi City Police

4. Mr. Do Xuan Hoa, Vice President of Vietnam Automobile Transportation Association

5. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Thuy, former Director of Transport Publishing House
