Ha Long University: Focus on training high-quality human resources

According to statistics, in the period of 2015-2020, the Provincial People's Council issued 8 resolutions for Ha Long University, focusing on policies to attract high-quality human resources to work at the school; payment regime for visiting professors, associate professors, and doctors at the school; attracting students to study in the university training programs of the school; keeping excellent Japanese students to stay at the school as lecturers. Therefore, in a short time, the school has had a team of high-quality permanent lecturers and opened training programs, especially language programs: English, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, etc.

Dr. Nguyen Thi Hang, Head of the Faculty of Foreign Languages (Ha Long University), is an officer who was attracted to work at the school, said: With the province's attention, we are not only guaranteed regimes and policies, but also receive encouragement in spirit, a friendly and open working environment. In particular, the opportunity to participate in building and developing a dynamic university in Quang Ninh. That is the motivation for me to stay with Ha Long University for a long time, contributing to the overall development of the school as well as the cause of education and training of high-quality human resources for the province.

Ha Long University and Van Don International Airport signed a cooperation agreement on training and human resource supply for the period 2024 - 2029.

To enhance its position, create high-quality human resources for the province and the region, along with the attracted team, Ha Long University has focused on training quality. Training programs are built and updated regularly according to social needs, ensuring scientific , modern and professional qualities. Students of the school have many opportunities to receive scholarships to study abroad at foreign universities and participate in practice, internships and practical experiences at businesses to perfect their knowledge and skills before graduation.

Thanks to specific policies, mechanisms and adequate investment resources, the quality of the school's human resources has been increasingly improved. In the period of 2021-2024, Ha Long University has made significant progress in improving the qualifications of its staff and lecturers: The number of Associate Professors and Doctors increased from 0 to 6 people; the number of PhDs increased from 34 to 38 people; the number of Masters from 189 to 194 people. Thus, compared to the beginning of 2021, the number of highly qualified lecturers has made remarkable progress. The team has gradually stabilized, has many years of teaching experience, and is confident in working at the school.

Not only paying attention to building and developing a team of high-quality staff and lecturers, Ha Long University also focuses on implementing many practical policies to support and encourage students in their studies. Students studying at the University enjoy support policies according to Resolution No. 35 dated August 27, 2021 of the Provincial People's Council on stipulating policies to attract and train high-quality human resources at Ha Long University in the period of 2021-2025. Up to now, more than 13,000 students have benefited with an amount of over 57 billion VND. The policies have created conditions for good and excellent students with low income families to study at the University and stay in Quang Ninh to work.

Currently, Ha Long University has deployed 25 undergraduate majors and 3 master’s majors, contributing significantly to supplementing and improving the quality of the teaching staff. By 2030, the school strives to reach a scale of 10,000 students, expanding to 30 undergraduate majors and 5 master’s majors, gradually moving towards the goal of becoming a university city.
