In the context that Da Nang is aiming to become an international logistics, trade and service center of the Central region, the construction of a cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport is an urgent requirement to meet the current trend of air transport development.
Long-term development strategy
Currently, the volume of imported and exported goods through Da Nang airport is increasing. Not only serving the goods of the city, but also of neighboring areas such as Quang Ngai , Hue city, the Central region... However, the airport's cargo handling capacity is still limited, there is no specialized cargo terminal, leading to a scattered situation, difficult to control, not meeting the requirements of speed and quality of aviation logistics services.
Therefore, the construction of a cargo terminal at Da Nang airport is an urgent need in the immediate future, as well as a long-term strategy for the city to develop logistics, affirming its position as an international freight and service transit center of the Central region and the whole country.
Over the past years, the volume of goods passing through Da Nang airport has grown by an average of 10-15% per year. According to forecasts, by 2030, the demand for transporting goods through the airport could reach hundreds of thousands of tons. Without a dedicated terminal, the risk of overload and delays in operations is inevitable.

According to a representative of a leading seafood exporter in Da Nang, export orders to Japan, Korea, China, etc. require fast transportation, but currently, processing procedures and loading and unloading goods at Da Nang airport still takes a long time. The company hopes to have a modern cargo terminal to serve better.
Mr. Le Van Vinh, Director of Vinh Le Travel Service Company Limited, said that the modern cargo terminal will help meet the demand for transporting fresh goods, electronics, pharmaceuticals, etc., which require speed and safety. At the same time, it will help businesses in the Central region reduce costs and transportation time when they do not have to depend too much on major airports in Ho Chi Minh City or Hanoi. In addition, developing cargo transportation will contribute to the revenue of the airport and the local budget.
There will be a cargo terminal with a capacity of 100,000 tons/year.
The project “Construction of Cargo Terminal at Da Nang International Airport” will be implemented on an area of over 24,600m2. Of which, about 14,206m2 is for the terminal, the rest is for loading and unloading area and parking lot. The total estimated investment is 631 billion VND, with Vietnam Airports Corporation - JSC (ACV) as the investor.

The new cargo terminal is designed with a capacity of 100,000 tons of cargo per year, and is expected to reach this target by 2030. The project construction period lasts from the fourth quarter of 2025 to the fourth quarter of 2026. This is part of the infrastructure upgrade plan of Da Nang airport, in parallel with the expansion of passenger terminal T1 and the development of the northern area of the airport.
According to Da Nang International Airport, the new cargo terminal will help increase the capacity to receive and handle goods, while contributing to promoting import and export, improving competitiveness, and connecting the economy between Da Nang and domestic and foreign markets. This will create a strong driving force for the regional economy.

The construction of the cargo terminal is a strategic step for the Port in its journey to expand its aviation infrastructure system to meet the increasing demand for cargo transportation. The project not only expands cargo handling capacity but also represents a strong commitment towards modernizing aviation logistics.
With the capacity to handle up to 100,000 tons of cargo per year, the new cargo terminal at Da Nang International Airport will be a powerful tool to serve trade, promote import and export and connect Da Nang's economy with domestic and foreign markets.
