Training in counseling and testing techniques for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis

On October 29, in Khanh Hoa province, the National Institute of Hygiene and Epidemiology organized a training program for provincial lecturers on counseling and testing techniques for HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis for pregnant women. Nearly 40 medical staff from disease control centers, general hospitals, and maternity and pediatric hospitals in the Central and Central Highlands provinces participated in the program.

Trainees are updated by experts on the rapid testing process for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis; HIV exposure prevention and treatment; instructions on sample collection; connecting pregnant women to prevent HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis; prevention of mother-to-child transmission; and technical instructions on testing on blind samples. Trainees also exchange and discuss directly with lecturers about difficulties and problems in counseling and testing for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis... The program aims to improve the professional capacity of the team doing counseling and testing for HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis in localities; aiming to eliminate mother-to-child transmission of HIV, hepatitis B, and syphilis by 2030.

Trainees are updated on HIV, hepatitis B and syphilis testing techniques for pregnant women.

According to the World Health Organization, every year in the Western Pacific region, approximately 180,000 children are infected with hepatitis B, 13,000 children are infected with syphilis and 1,400 children are infected with HIV. These diseases are completely preventable through available interventions, such as: screening tests, management of treatment for pregnant women, vaccination for children immediately after birth...
