TPO - After the virtual filtering period, universities will announce the benchmark scores starting from 5:00 p.m. on August 17 and will be completed by August 19 at the latest.
More competition?
According to teachers and admissions experts, this year's "hot" majors have high entrance scores. If the quota is the same as last year, the competition will be greater.
Teacher Dinh Duc Hien, Vice Principal of FPT Bac Giang Primary, Secondary and High School, commented that the score distribution of traditional exam groups such as A, B, A1, C, D all shifted to the right of the chart, the average and median scores both increased compared to 2023.
At the same time, universities today have proactively implemented many enrollment plans, causing the enrollment quota based on high school graduation exam scores to decrease.
"Therefore, the benchmark scores of the blocks are unlikely to decrease, the top schools will remain the same or increase slightly compared to 2023" - Mr. Hien commented.
According to Mr. Hien, blocks A, B, A1 will increase less from 0.25-1 point, blocks C, D can increase from 0.5-2 points depending on the school, there may even be strong fluctuations in some schools because the huge variables will come when candidates change their wishes.
Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Duc - Chairman of the Council of the University of Technology, Vietnam National University, Hanoi commented that with the score distribution of subjects such as Mathematics, Physics, especially Chemistry and Geography, the number of 10 points is higher than in previous years. Therefore, it is predicted that the score distribution of the combination A00, A01, B00, C00, D01 will increase.
According to Professor Duc, the percentage of excellent scores in this year's high school graduation exam is higher than in 2023 in all subjects.
Therefore, Professor Duc believes that if there is no major change in the ratio of admission quotas based on high school graduation exam results, this year's entrance scores will be higher than last year's in all groups and may differ by 1-3 points.
"For "hot" industries with high entry scores, if the quota is the same as last year, the competition will be greater," Professor Duc emphasized.
Which school block's benchmark scores increased?
Forecasting the benchmark scores of medical and pharmaceutical schools, teachers and admissions experts commented that with the number of candidates scoring 27.5 or higher increasing significantly and the number of B00 ceiling quotas decreasing, many opinions predict that the benchmark score of Hanoi Medical University this year will increase by 0.25-0.50 points compared to last year.
Cumulative data shows that the number of candidates with a score of 27.5 or higher in 2024 is 843 candidates while in 2023 there were only 615 candidates. In 2023, Hanoi Medical University recruited 282 candidates with a minimum admission score of 27.73 points, with candidates considering in combination with IELTS certificates having a score of 26.0 points.
Although the quota for this industry of Hanoi Medical University in 2 years has not fluctuated much, the distribution has changed, in which in 2023, the quota is 280 for B00 and 120 for B00 combined with IELTS, while in 2024, according to the school's enrollment plan, the number of medical quotas is still 400, but for B00, it is 240, and B00 combined with IELTS is 160.
Thus, there are 2 reasons why the benchmark score of Hanoi Medical University will increase in 2024: the number of candidates with high scores of 27.5 or higher will increase significantly and the number of quotas for taking B00 ceiling will decrease. It is predicted that it may increase by 0.25-0.50 points. The minimum admission score for Medicine considering IELTS certificate may remain stable or fluctuate less.
According to predictions, the standard scores of many majors of the National Economics University may increase by 0.25 to 0.75 points compared to last year, while newly opened majors will take over 26 points.
Hanoi University of Industry mainly recruits students based on the A00, A01 and D01 combinations and the school's benchmark scores for majors in recent years have ranged from 22 to 26 points. Therefore, this year, the benchmark scores for majors/training programs of the school are stable; there may be a slight increase in some majors recruiting based on the D01 combination.
According to the leaders of Hanoi University, the school's admission score is expected to increase or decrease by 0.5-1 point compared to last year.
For some "hot" majors such as English, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Marketing, Information Technology, Multimedia Communications..., candidates must have an average score of 8.5 to 9 points or higher in each subject to be able to pass. Previous years were the days with the highest entrance requirements.
A representative of the University of Commerce predicts that the admission scores for the school's majors in 2024 based on high school graduation exam scores will be similar or slightly higher than last year.
It is known that in recent years, the benchmark scores for standard training programs of the University of Commerce are often around 26 points. For some hot majors, the score can be up to 27 points.
Up to now, more than 230 schools have announced the minimum admission scores based on high school graduation exam scores. The minimum scores of schools range from 14 to 24.5 points, with the highest scores in the fields of education and medicine.
