Professor Tran Quoc Duong, PhD, from the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, affirmed that we have the right to be proud of the nation's strong ability to rise up, and that the united and creative Vietnamese people can master all fields.
| On the occasion of the anniversary of the August Revolution, Associate Professor Dr. Tran Quoc Duong affirmed that every citizen is proud of the nation's strong ability to rise up. |
How do you feel these days, as you prepare to commemorate the August Revolution?
Not only I, but all Vietnamese people, and arguably many oppressed nations around the world, are proud of this day.
The August Revolution marked a turning point in the struggle for national liberation across the planet, as it was the first time a semi-feudal colonial country had independently fought to seize power for the working people.
For the first time in the history of nation-building and national defense, the Vietnamese people have truly become an independent and free nation. Every year around this time, for me, the spirit of the August Revolution surges in an indescribable way. Perhaps this is also the common sentiment of the Vietnamese people.
In today's world, how can we foster national pride in every Vietnamese citizen, especially the youth?
The victory of the August Revolution in 1945 was primarily due to the wisdom and courage of the Communist Party of Vietnam , the brilliant leader Ho Chi Minh, and the heroic, closely united, and revolutionary people. We knew how to seize opportunities and possessed real strength. By grasping the opportunities and the convergence of subjective and objective factors, we were able to "use our own strength to liberate ourselves."
The present era is the era of Ho Chi Minh, who creatively applied, supplemented, and developed the Marxist-Leninist doctrine, contributing to its perfection, especially on the issue of colonial liberation. For the first time in the world, it was proven that a proletarian revolution could succeed in colonial countries.
Every Vietnamese citizen, especially the younger generation born and raised in a peaceful and independent country, must be proud of the nation's traditions: independence and self-reliance, self-liberation, seizing opportunities, and grasping the laws of development to lead the nation forward...
In my opinion, the more proud young people are of their national and revolutionary traditions, the more they must strive to be creative, proactive, and courageous in order to bring Vietnam to stand shoulder to shoulder with the world's leading powers, as President Ho Chi Minh advised and wished.
So, in your opinion, what needs to be done to promote the values of the August Revolution in the cause of building a stronger and more prosperous nation, as well as further enhancing the country's position on the international stage?
Today's young generation, having inherited the achievements of their ancestors, needs to be more aware than ever of their responsibilities and duties in building and protecting the nation.
First and foremost, we must accelerate the industrialization and modernization of the country, master all fields of science and technology, and preserve our national cultural identity. We must actively and proactively integrate and adapt, but remain steadfast and independent. We must consider internal factors as decisive, while external factors are important in building and protecting the country.
"Having interacted with many young people, I've noticed that today's youth are intelligent, dynamic, inquisitive, and constantly 'moving'. They always know how to express their individual 'interfaces' when going out into society and when integrating internationally." I believe that today's young generation will know how to inherit the revolutionary achievements of their forefathers, and will strive and study tirelessly to bring glory to the nation and the country." |
Upholding revolutionary traditions, independence, self-reliance, and creativity, contributing to clarifying the theory of Socialism and the path to Socialism in Vietnam, actively researching theory and applying it to the Vietnamese context in the new situation.
In addition, we must seize opportunities, confront challenges, and unite to preserve our national cultural identity.
In international integration, we need to be proactive, assertive, and integrate without assimilating, remaining steadfast in the goals chosen by the Party and President Ho Chi Minh. We must integrate sincerely and humbly, but uphold the strength of the nation and the Ho Chi Minh era.

Could you share the historical significance of the August Revolution of 1945 for the education of today's young generation?
It can be said that the August Revolution supplemented the theory of Marxism-Leninism, proving the correctness of Marxist-Leninist doctrine, and the creativity of the Party, President Ho Chi Minh, and the Vietnamese nation in the revolutionary task.
Vietnam was the first nation to emerge from colonial rule and reclaim power for the people. This is something to be extremely proud of, therefore, young people need to seize the opportunity, promote proactiveness and unity to achieve this goal.
Furthermore, we are proud of the nation's remarkable ability to rise. The Vietnamese people, united and creative, can master all fields. This process combines national strength and the strength of the times, where internal strength is decisive, external factors are important, and we know how to seize opportunities to build and protect the Fatherland.
On another note, I've noticed that Vietnamese youth love Vietnamese history and enjoy studying it, but there's a need to change the methods of writing, teaching, and learning Vietnamese history. In particular, the way history is studied should foster national pride, encourage overcoming difficulties, and promote self-improvement.
Having interacted with many young people, I've noticed that today's youth are intelligent, dynamic, eager to learn, and constantly on the move. I believe that today's young generation will inherit the revolutionary achievements of their ancestors, and will strive and study tirelessly to bring glory to the nation and the country.
In addition, children need to be aware of and proud of their national traditions. To achieve this, education and awareness campaigns should be conducted for future generations through various diverse and engaging methods.
Thank you very much, sir!
