The Diplomatic Academy organized a scientific seminar on the global and regional situation.

On December 17th, in Hanoi, the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam organized a scientific seminar entitled: “Assessing the global and regional situation in 2025, forecasting for 2026, and challenges facing Vietnam.”

With the participation of approximately 80 delegates, including representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs , veteran foreign affairs officials, experts, scholars, and representatives from several relevant departments and units, the seminar aimed to summarize and assess the global and regional situation in 2025, while also providing forecasts for 2026. This is an annual scientific activity of the Diplomatic Academy to serve research and advisory work for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as to develop professional publications of the Academy.

At the seminar, delegates focused on assessing the prominent developments in the world and the region in 2025, while also offering insights and forecasts for 2026, particularly on issues such as great power competition; major shifts in global security, politics , and economics; and the impact of these trends on Vietnam's foreign relations, security, and development environment. Based on multifaceted exchanges and analyses, delegates provided many insightful assessments, clarifying the challenges facing Vietnam's foreign policy in the coming period.

Speaking at the seminar, Central Committee member and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Manh Cuong emphasized the important significance of the seminar in the context of 2025 witnessing many major changes, accelerating the shift in the global landscape. At the same time, in early 2026, Vietnam will hold its 14th Party Congress, which will set out important decisions, including in the field of foreign affairs, to usher the country into a new era.

The Deputy Minister highly appreciated the frank and multifaceted exchanges and consultations, which contributed to clarifying the overall picture of the world situation, providing important arguments for monitoring, evaluating, and forecasting future developments, and suggesting appropriate policy directions and recommendations for Vietnam's foreign affairs.

Emphasizing that in the context of the increasingly important role of foreign affairs and international integration, becoming a crucial and ongoing task in the spirit of the Draft Document of the 14th National Congress, alongside the pioneering role affirmed since the 13th National Congress, the Deputy Minister stated that strategic research needs to be further strengthened in a more far-sighted, broader, and deeper direction, clarifying the nature of ongoing changes, identifying issues with a systematic nature in international relations, thereby improving the quality of forecasting and early warning.

The Deputy Minister also expressed his hope that the Diplomatic Academy would continue to play its role as a hub connecting knowledge in the field of foreign affairs, contributing insightful and timely assessments to serve the Party and State leadership.

The seminar was considered a practical academic forum, creating a space for frank and in-depth exchange between ministries and agencies with experts and researchers on major issues of the global and regional situation. Through the shared analyses, assessments, and forecasts, many key trends of the international landscape in the coming period were clarified, thereby contributing to raising general awareness and effectively supporting research, monitoring, and forecasting of the situation, meeting the increasingly high demands in the context of a rapidly changing and complex international environment.
