During the meeting, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu expressed his pleasure at the positive and comprehensive development of Vietnam-Japan relations after two years of upgrading to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership; welcomed the visit of Mr. Yoneda Gen and JICA officials to Vietnam; and highly appreciated the role and practical contributions of JICA to Vietnam's development over the past three decades through supporting the implementation of many important ODA projects such as the Bai Chay Bridge, the Nhat Tan Bridge, Ho Chi Minh City's Metro Line 1, and Cho Ray Hospital.
Sharing the views of Mr. Yoneda Gen, Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu suggested that both sides continue to coordinate closely to promote the progress of cooperation projects as agreed upon by high-level leaders, ensuring timely commencement as committed by both sides; and at the same time, hoped that JICA would continue to pay attention to and encourage the Japanese Government to consider providing Vietnam with new generation ODA loans to implement key, large-scale projects in Vietnam.

Mr. Yoneda Gen expressed his pleasure at meeting Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu; and thanked the Vietnamese Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its active and effective cooperation in promoting the implementation of Japanese ODA projects in Vietnam. Mr. Yoneda affirmed that JICA always values the Vietnam-Japan relationship and stated that Japanese businesses appreciate Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and wish to expand investment and business in Vietnam in the future.
Agreeing with the opinion of Permanent Deputy Minister Nguyen Minh Vu, Mr. Yoneda Gen affirmed that JICA will continue its efforts to support Vietnam's development; closely coordinating with relevant ministries, sectors, and agencies of Vietnam to accelerate the progress of important ODA cooperation projects such as the Vietnam-Japan University construction project, the Cho Ray Hospital project, and projects on climate change response and rural development, and adaptation to natural disasters in the northern mountainous provinces.
