Musician Le Tan Phuc sent the work "50 seasons of blooming flowers" to the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" of the Lao Dong Newspaper.

As a son born and raised in Ho Chi Minh City, musician Le Tan Phuc was nurtured and grew up with the mass art movement. Every street corner, road, and performance for the masses has left indelible memories in his mind.

Reporter: Perhaps that is also the reason for the birth of the song "50 seasons of beautiful flowers"?

- Musician LE TAN PHUC: I witnessed the historic moment of the April 30 victory with its historical mark on the entire nation. Under the leadership of the Party, the government and the mass fronts, Ho Chi Minh City overcame difficulties and hardships to become a civilized, modern and humane city today.

Always proud to be a citizen of Ho Chi Minh City - the heroic city, so I have placed my faith in the bright future of the country and of Ho Chi Minh City through the song "50 seasons of beautiful flowers".

Can you reveal the secret to composing songs based on themes, a requirement that composers have long believed can easily lead to dry songs?

- I have written many songs with diverse topics such as praising the Party, traffic safety, blood donation, praising professions such as: Fatherland Front, Youth Union, Women's Union, education , health sector...

I think when writing about a topic, you need to carefully research documents, books, newspapers, refer to social networks and have to approach reality to have emotions.

Listen to the breath of life every day, these life experiences will "permeate" into you and then ideas will naturally flow, giving birth to good songs.

What is your most unforgettable memory when talking about Ho Chi Minh City?

- Ho Chi Minh City is where I was born, grew up and worked, so I must say there are too many memories. I remember the difficulties of the subsidy period, the period of opening up trade and now it is a vibrant city full of life.

I remember the time when the youth volunteered to reclaim land and dig canals, and then generations of young people went off to do international duty in Cambodia, including me. There are so many memories that if I have to leave this city for a few days, I miss it, miss it so much.

.There are now many singers and groups writing about Ho Chi Minh City with different perspectives. What do you think about them?

- Most of them have attended school but some are not specialized in composing. The Lao Dong Newspaper can also coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Music Association and musicians to open composing training classes for these young people.

The songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" was organized by the Lao Dong Newspaper to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Liberation of the South and National Reunification Day (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2025). Up to now, the Organizing Committee has received 80 songs from nearly 60 authors across the country.

The prize structure of the songwriting campaign "The Country is Full of Joy" includes: 1 first prize worth 100 million VND, 1 second prize worth 50 million VND, 2 third prizes - each worth 30 million VND, 3 consolation prizes - each worth 10 million VND.

The Organizing Committee has just announced an additional prize, "Readers' Most Favorite Work", worth 5 million VND.

The Organizing Committee will select the 20 best works for the final round. The final round will take place in February 2025 and the award ceremony of the campaign is expected to take place in April 2025.

The Organizing Committee will select good works to stage and introduce at the 30th Mai Vang Awards Ceremony (expected on January 8, 2025).
