From November, building rental houses must have a minimum 3.5m wide adjacent road.

The People's Committee of Nam Dinh province has just issued a Decision regulating traffic conditions for fire fighting vehicles to perform fire fighting tasks at multi-storey houses with many apartments of individuals in the province; effective from November 2.

Accordingly, from November 2, to be granted a construction permit for a house with 2 floors or more and a scale of less than 20 apartments, each floor is designed and built for rent, along with meeting the provisions of the law on planning, construction, housing, fire prevention and fighting, individuals with the right to use residential land must meet the conditions on traffic routes for fire fighting vehicles to access the construction site.

Therefore, the clear width of the existing traffic road adjacent to the land for which a construction permit is requested is at least 3.5m and must be connected to other roads in the area with a minimum clear width of 3.5m or must have a place to turn around for dead-end roads.

Access roads to houses must not be blocked by structures above the fire truck path, ensuring that the clear height for fire trucks to pass through is not less than 4.5m.

The road surface must be able to withstand the load of fire trucks according to design requirements and be suitable for the type of vehicle of the fire police agency and fire water supply; on traffic routes, there must be a fire water supply system and fire hydrants with capacity and convenient connection to serve fire fighting work according to regulations.
