Propaganda work and raising awareness of preventing early marriage and incestuous marriage among ethnic minority youth is focused on by localities. |
To achieve the above results, in recent times, the Provincial Party Committee and Provincial People's Committee have focused on leading and directing departments, branches, localities and organizations to actively coordinate and implement many programs and projects to change the awareness and behavior of ethnic minority people. The school system has played an important role in providing knowledge and life skills to students, helping them avoid early marriage.
In order to promote information, propaganda, education , and raise awareness among people, in the period of 2015 - 2025, the whole province organized more than 440 training courses, knowledge enhancement, and conferences for nearly 37,000 people, focusing on population officials, village elders, village chiefs, union officials, especially young people; organized more than 1,340 competitions, seminars, and communications, attracting tens of thousands of participants; developed and distributed tens of thousands of leaflets, billboards, posters, and propaganda handbooks... In addition, direct counseling was organized for thousands of ethnic minority youth on reproductive health and marriage and family law. Intervention models such as "Pre-marriage Club", "Reducing early marriage and incestuous marriage"... were effective.
Maintain the results achieved
According to Dr. Trinh Ngoc Hiep - Deputy Director of the Department of Health, despite many positive results, the work of preventing and combating child marriage and consanguineous marriage still faces challenges and difficulties. The reason is that the customs and practices of ethnic minorities lead to families organizing their own marriages and early marriages for their children. The intellectual level and awareness of law compliance of a part of ethnic minorities and mountainous areas are still limited, and the economic conditions of families are difficult, so the management and education of children are not strict. In addition, the knowledge, communication and advocacy skills of specialized officials and collaborators on child marriage, consanguineous marriage, and gender equality in some establishments are still limited; coordination between departments, branches, and organizations in some localities is not close...
In the coming time, the province will continue to synchronously implement solutions to maintain the goal of ending child marriage and incestuous marriage. In particular, focusing on education and communication to change behavior; mobilizing village elders, village chiefs, and religious dignitaries to participate in advocacy, explanation, and setting examples in eliminating backward customs. At the same time, continue to implement programs and policies to sustainably reduce poverty, create jobs, improve living standards, and reduce pressure on early marriage in ethnic minority and mountainous areas...
The results of the work of preventing and combating child marriage and consanguineous marriage in Khanh Hoa over the past 10 years have not only contributed to improving the quality of the population, but also had an important meaning in promoting gender equality, protecting children's rights, and promoting sustainable development in ethnic minority and mountainous areas. Thanks to the reduction of child marriage, children, especially girls, have more opportunities to study and develop comprehensively; the risk of giving birth at an early age has decreased, limiting reproductive health risks. This is also an important premise to improve the quality of human resources, meeting the socio-economic development requirements of the province in the coming period.
