TPO - The open canal in the Hong Thai - Tan Trao area (Lien Chieu District, Da Nang City) often causes pollution in the dry season and flooding in the rainy season. The Da Nang City People's Council has agreed to invest more than 105 billion VND to cover this canal and build a green park to ensure the quality of life of the people here.

The Hong Thai-Tan Trao canal is about 500m long, and has now been separated and collected to the Phu Loc wastewater treatment plant for treatment. However, the canal bed is still full of water and waste, causing loss of aesthetics and environmental pollution.

Covering this canal is necessary to increase drainage capacity, reduce the frequency of flooding in the area, reduce environmental pollution, and reduce odors coming from the canal during the hot season. In particular, the synchronous connection of the route with the Yen The - Bac Son box culvert ensures the urban landscape and improves the quality of life of the people.

The open canal is located in a densely populated area, but garbage and stagnant water in the canal cause pollution.

Mr. Luong Van Khoi, a resident living next to the canal, said that in the dry season, stagnant water causes pollution, and in the rainy season, it floods and the garbage underneath causes a foul smell and is unsightly. “I and many residents living around here all want to soon cover this canal so that we can have a cleaner living environment,” Mr. Khoi said.

The project to cover a 500m long open canal to invest in building a park and creating a living space in the Hong Thai - Tan Trao area has been approved by the Da Nang City People's Council with a total project investment of more than 105 billion VND.

The Hong Thai – Tan Trao route will also be studied and widened from 5.5m to 7.5m. At the same time, public parks will be created on both sides of the canal so that people have a place to do sports , play and live.
