Yesterday (March 27), the AFC draw placed the Thai women's team in the same group with India, Mongolia, Timor and Iraq in the 2026 Women's Asian Cup qualifiers. In this tournament, the group leader will qualify for the final round in Australia, and aim to hunt for a ticket to the 2027 Women's World Cup.
Aiming for the dream of a third World Cup, the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) has strengthened the women's team with 6 quality "reinforcements", who are Thai-born talents playing in England, the United States, Japan and Sweden. This addition promises to help the team conquer the prestigious ticket to the biggest football festival on the planet.
Six Thai women were summoned by the Thai women's team
The list of 6 Thai expatriates includes: goalkeeper Annalina Seesanngam (Cardiff City Ladies, England), who played for Wales U16; Midfielder Sangjun Mai (Chicago Mastangs Women, USA); Defender Kanyarat Aikawa (Japan), captain of the KMUTT Futsal team; Midfielder Aricha Sirichang (Mariestads Bols FF, Sweden); Center back Matilda Martensson (Varbergs Bols FC, Sweden) – Midfielder Grace Thao (University of Central Florida, USA), who played for the U15, U17 USA & U20 Philippines.
The above Thais are on the list of 35 Thai national women's football players training and preparing for the China Women's International Football Championship (CFA Yongchuan 2025) from April 3 to 9, 2025 in Chongqing, China.
The Thai team is expected to travel to China on April 2.
The tournament features four countries, including China (ranked 17th in the world ), Thailand (47), Uzbekistan (50) and Zambia (64).
This is an important tournament in the preparation of the Thai women's team for the 2026 Women's Asian Cup Qualifiers taking place from June, including the 2025 SEA Games hosted by Thailand in December.
