Vietnam women's football strives to be among the top 5 teams in Asia; reach the finals of the 2026 and 2029 Women's Asian Cup; and qualify for the 2031 World Cup. This goal was set by the VFF for the Vietnam women's team in the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy for the 2024-2027 period.
The 2031 Women's World Cup finals will increase the number of participating teams to 48, with 8 places from Asia. With 37th place in the world and 6th in Asia, the Vietnamese women's team has a great opportunity to participate in the biggest playground on the planet for the second time.
The launching ceremony of the Vietnam Women's Football Development Strategy for the 2024-2027 period, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation, took place on the morning of June 6. This is a project sponsored by UEFA and AFC, within the framework of the program to support the development of women's football in Asia, which will be launched from November 2024.
The strategy has been approved by the Standing Committee and the Women's Football Committee of the VFF, marking an important step forward in the long-term development orientation for Vietnamese women's football. In addition to the ultimate goal of the Vietnamese women's team qualifying for the 2031 World Cup, the project also aims to comprehensively professionalize the domestic women's football system, from youth training, domestic tournaments, to the national team.
