In the past few days, many universities have announced the minimum admission scores for their majors. According to the plan, today or tomorrow, the Ministry of Education and Training will announce the threshold to ensure the quality of the input (the minimum score) for the health and education majors. Based on this common threshold, universities will determine and announce the score to receive applications for teacher training and health science majors.

Candidates have about one more week to register their admission wishes on the Ministry of Education and Training's General Admission System.

In the online television consultation program, university admissions experts have notes for candidates when registering for university admission, especially paying attention to the admission threshold for teacher training and health sciences. Representatives of the schools also provide information on new majors related to pedagogy and health, predict the level of competition for candidates when participating in the admissions and the standard score trends for these majors this year.

In particular, in the context that there is only one week left to register for admission, the program has advice for candidates when performing the registration, adjustment, and addition of wishes to be admitted to the most desired major.

Note about the "trap" of floor scores

Opening the program, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai, Permanent Deputy Director of Duy Tan University, informed about the 5 traditional groups A00, A01, B00, C00 and D01, this year the score range is relatively low compared to 2024. However, the scores of candidates in group 27 and above are similar to 2024, under 27, all groups are lower.

Math is the main subject of the admission combinations related to health sciences, with a score below 5 in 50%, so the combination of math, chemistry, biology (B00) or math, physics, chemistry (A00) has a lower average score than last year.

This year, due to registering for 2 elective subjects, the number of candidates registering for the component subjects is lower, for example, biology has less than 70,000 candidates, the score below 7 is relatively high. Therefore, the floor score for health sciences may tend to decrease.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Nga, in charge of communications at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, said that in 2025, subjects with low scores will directly affect the traditional subject groups B00 for the health sector and A00, C00, D01 for the pedagogy sector. The benchmark scores of hot majors are likely to decrease slightly compared to last year and increase the level of competition with average score groups, from 18-22 points. The B00 group has a lower score range than other subject groups, which will change the subject groups for admission in the same major. Every year, the benchmark scores of these two majors are relatively high and stable. However, this year, the benchmark scores are likely to decrease.

Master Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong, Director of the Marketing and Brand Development Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that the number of candidates with 27 or more is similar to last year, so if any candidate has this score, they can be completely assured of being considered for the health and education majors. A score of 21-22 or slightly lower is also within the possibility of being admitted to the health and education majors because the benchmark scores of many medical and education schools in the past 2-3 years have been similar to this score.

In addition, Master Ngoc Phuong also reminded candidates about the difference between the floor score and the standard score: The floor score is only for candidates to know if they are eligible for admission, it is not the standard score. We should be careful, the floor score is sometimes a "trap", students must combine it with the data of the score distribution, the standard score of many years... to decide to register their wishes to the schools.

Speaking more about this difference, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said that the floor score is only the minimum threshold for the university to accept applications for admission, not the admission score. The admission score is based on the number of quotas, the number of candidates registered, and the score distribution of registered candidates.

Most schools accept the lowest score. You should apply for many options. The percentage of scores from 21-27 is quite high, leading to schools having to use additional criteria, so you need to read the information of the school's admission plan.

In addition to the minimum score for the education and health sciences sectors, there is also the semiconductor microchip industry (math must be 8 points and 3 subjects must be 24 points, however schools not included in the project do not need this threshold), and the law industry (math or literature must be 6 points and the total score of 3 subjects must be 60% on a 30-point scale.)

Regarding the floor score and new majors, Dr. Vo Thanh Hai said that Duy Tan University's health sector will have a floor score equal to the level set by the Ministry of Education and Training, the law is 18 points, the remaining majors will be the same as in 2024. "After completing the application, you also need to know the score conversion formula of the universities," Dr. Hai advised candidates.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoang Nga informed that in 2025, Nguyen Tat Thanh University will open a biomedical science major in the health sector in addition to general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, etc. The minimum score for admission methods other than the high school graduation exam, and the health sector of the school will decrease slightly compared to 2024. Students should note that general medicine, pharmacy, dentistry, and traditional medicine must have good academic performance, with an admission score of 8.0; nursing and laboratory technology majors must have good academic performance and an admission score of 6.5; law majors have a minimum score of 18. The remaining majors have a minimum score of 15 points.

The school also uses the admission method using a high school transcript score of 18 or higher, and a capacity assessment score of 550 (Ho Chi Minh City National University) and 70 ( Hanoi National University).

Master Nguyen Tran Ngoc Phuong said that this year, Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology (HUTECH) will recruit 61 majors, with a minimum score of 15, except for the health sector. Other methods (VSAT, capacity assessment) are converted to a scale of 30, also from 15 points, and the transcript score is 18.

''Candidates should set many wishes, should not subjectively set only one wish, it is easy to lose the opportunity even if the score is high. Dr. Vo Thanh Hai noted that the conditions for entering the health sector are based on the method of considering academic records, competency assessment test, V-SAT, combining different methods, general medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, candidates must achieve 24 points in 3 combined subjects, 12th grade academic performance must be good, or graduation score must be 8.0 or higher; the remaining sectors are classified as good and achieve 19 points or higher.
