At the program, Master Cao Quang Tu, Director of Admissions at Saigon International University, commented that this year's university admissions had "last minute" adjustments such as the time frame for announcing benchmark scores and the time for confirming admission compared to the previous schedule, with the aim of making the admissions process smoother for candidates. However, this also made candidates nervous and worried.

"This is completely explainable. Many schools immediately post the data on their lookup page after having the benchmark scores, but some schools provide information later due to large data. As for the students wondering why they did not get admitted with higher scores, or not knowing which major and which school they were admitted to, it is because they do not clearly understand the admission plan, how to calculate and convert scores, so they are not sure whether they were admitted or not," said Master Tu.

Experts inform candidates what to do after knowing the benchmark scores and additional admissions

Master Vo Ngoc Nhon, Deputy Director of the Admissions Consulting Center of Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology, said that this year the admissions system has to bear many variables, each school has different data so it can be overloaded, leading to system problems and having to extend the time. "In addition, many candidates register for too many wishes so they don't remember, leading to not knowing which major they actually got into. Or there are students who want to get into school A but get into school B because they arranged their wishes wrongly...", Master Nhon commented.

Master Truong Thi Ngoc Bich also explained that technically, some universities announced the data immediately after the benchmark scores were available, while others did not have time to do so immediately. "However, up to this point, all schools have regulations on admission and specific instructions through announcements, messages, and emails for admitted candidates. If you have any questions, you should contact the university for clear answers," Master Bich informed.

Similarly, Master Truong Quang Tri, Deputy Head of Admissions at Nguyen Tat Thanh University, affirmed that candidates do not need to worry too much, as all schools have sent information to admitted candidates. "What you need to do now is to confirm your admission on the system," said Master Tri.

Should candidates refuse admission for additional consideration?

At the program, many candidates shared their real-life situations. Some candidates were admitted in the first round but their 4th or 5th choice was not their favorite major. Therefore, they wondered whether they should refuse admission to consider additional studies. Some candidates, due to placing the wrong priority order, were admitted to their least favorite major or were not admitted to any major. There were also candidates who were admitted to their first choice of major they loved in the past, but now they no longer love it...

Regarding these situations, Master Cao Quang Tu advised: "If you are admitted to a major that you really love, no matter how many times it is your first choice, you should confirm your admission. If you are not really interested in a major, you can also consider refusing admission to consider additional admission, but the chance of being admitted this time is not much because the quota is very small."

Master Ngoc Bich also said that the additional exam is a "narrow path" but there are many people who take it, the standard score is often higher than the first round, so if you make the wrong decision, it is easy to lose the opportunity to be admitted. Therefore, students who have been admitted to a suitable major but are not at their favorite school should still confirm their admission.

"The most important thing is that the major you love is your favorite. In case it is not your favorite major, and you want to choose another major, you can refuse to enroll to participate in the additional admission process," said Master Bich.

According to Master Tu, PhDs who are admitted by any method or wish, first round or additional, are all equal, sharing the same training program, same conditions, learning environment, scholarship opportunities, and chances of success.

It is known that Saigon International University is considering adding educational technology majors, and the medical information technology major is expected to have 300-350 quotas. Ho Chi Minh City University of Economics and Finance is considering adding all majors, with admission scores equal to the first round's standard scores.

Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology will also consider additional admission for 61 majors by using academic records, with admission scores from 18 and above, and for the health group from 19-21 points, with registration deadline until September 10. Nguyen Tat Thanh University will consider additional admission for 80 majors by all methods, accepting applications until September 10, and can register online or directly at the school.

Master Cao Quang Tu noted: "The Ministry of Education and Training has announced that from the morning of August 25, candidates have to confirm their admission on the system. Due to the fact that many candidates are accessing at the same time, there may be some problems with the enrollment software. There is still time until August 30, so students do not need to rush to confirm on the first day and can choose a time frame with less access such as 9 or 10 p.m." Master Tu added: "In addition, candidates can also come to the school to do the admission procedures directly and will be supported to confirm on the system. Saigon International University is accepting direct admission and instructing students to confirm on the system right at the school."

Master Vo Ngoc Nhon also reminded that if the candidate has received the admission notice and decided to study this major, he/she needs to confirm his/her enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training system. At the same time, the school's announcements contain information related to the timeline, procedural instructions, documents, etc. The candidate needs to follow them exactly.

Master Truong Quang Tri advises that in addition to confirming online admission, following school announcements, preparing documents and finances, students need to prepare mentally to be ready for a new learning environment, including getting familiar with university learning methods, practicing self-study skills, being independent, self-reliant, and having a clear learning roadmap...

Experts emphasize that if by 5:00 p.m. on August 30, a candidate does not confirm his/her enrollment on the Ministry of Education and Training's system, it will be considered as refusing to enroll and his/her name will no longer be on the admission list.

Many public universities also conduct additional recruitment exams.

Immediately after announcing the benchmark scores, Ton Duc Thang University plans to enroll students in an additional round of admission methods based on high school academic results, high school exam results in 2025, and the results of the 2025 capacity assessment test of Ho Chi Minh City National University. In particular, the school's standard program will consider adding 2 majors: environmental science and labor protection. The deadline for receiving applications is September 8.

Vietnam Aviation Academy also announced additional admissions for many majors such as: English language, information technology, construction engineering technology, aviation engineering...

Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade conducts additional admissions in 4 ways: admission based on the results of the 2025 high school graduation exam; admission based on high school study results; admission based on the results of the competency assessment exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City National University in 2025; admission based on the results of the specialized competency assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education combined with high school study results according to the subject groups corresponding to each major. Additional majors include: seafood processing technology, materials technology, etc.
