10th grade enrollment in Ha Tinh: Low quota, high aspirations

(Baohatinh.vn) - With more than 16,400 candidates taking the exam but only nearly 13,900 places available for 10th grade high school, that means more than 2,500 candidates in Ha Tinh will not achieve their desired results.

After days of intense exams, more than 16,400 candidates have just taken the 10th grade entrance exam at Ha Tinh High School and their parents are anxiously counting down the days until the results are announced.

Candidates who have just taken the 10th grade entrance exam are counting down the days until the exam results are announced.

Le Thi Thu Trang from Thach Quy ward (Ha Tinh city) registered her first choice at Phan Dinh Phung High School and shared: "My academic performance is quite good, I tried my best during the exam process, but with a school located in the city center with the top quality in the non-specialized high school system, the pressure of exams is also very high, especially in recent years, the admission score is quite high. Every time I think about the situation where my name is not on the admission list, I can't sleep."

In the 2025-2026 school year, Phan Dinh Phung High School has 495 enrollment targets, while the number of candidates registering for the first choice to enter the school is 370 students. However, for parents and students in the city, the admission score to this school is always unpredictable. In fact, out of more than 900 candidates registering for the entrance exam to Ha Tinh Specialized High School this year, more than half are good and excellent students in the city. And most of them have the second choice to enter Phan Dinh Phung High School.

Phan Dinh Phung High School is one of the top non-specialized high schools with relatively high entrance scores.

Anticipating the difficulties in this year's admission season, many students have measured their abilities and registered their first choice at schools with "easier" entrance scores such as Thanh Sen, Cam Binh, and Le Quy Don. Therefore, the number of candidates registering for the above schools has increased significantly, especially Thanh Sen High School.

According to data from the Department of Education and Training, this year, Thanh Sen High School Examination Council has 417 candidates registered for the exam, but the enrollment quota is only 270 students, so there will be about 147 candidates who do not meet their first choice. Similarly, Cam Binh High School has 588 candidates registered for the exam, but the enrollment quota is 455 (133 students do not meet their first choice); Le Quy Don High School has 453 candidates registered for the exam, but only has 405 quotas (48 students do not meet their first choice). The fact that candidates register for more than their quota is a good sign for schools to improve input quality, but it is also a concern and worry for parents and students.

With a total of 417 candidates registered for the exam but only 270 spots available, this is also an opportunity for Thanh Sen High School to improve input quality.

Ms. Le Thi Linh - a parent in Bac Ha ward (Ha Tinh city) said: "My child's academic performance is average, so he registered his first choice at Thanh Sen High School. However, after researching information, I found that this year, there are quite a lot of registrations at Thanh Sen, while the quota is low, and the opportunity for candidates to enter the school is also narrower. Currently, we are very worried and anxiously waiting for our child's results."

Not only in the central region but also in all localities across the province, parents and candidates are also worried, counting down the time waiting for the announcement of the results of the 10th grade entrance exam, because in reality the number of candidates registering their wishes is quite high compared to the approved quota. Accordingly, it is predicted that in some high schools, the number of candidates who do not meet their first wish is quite high, such as: Ky Anh High School (Ky Anh town) 130 students; Hong Linh High School 118 students; Nguyen Dong Chi High School (Thach Ha) 92 students; Nghen High School (Can Loc) 85 students...

With a total of 685 students registering for the exam but only 555 spots available, it is expected that 130 candidates will not pass the 10th grade entrance exam at Ky Anh High School.

Nguyen Nam Phong (Hung Tri ward, Ky Anh town) said: “Unlike the previous school year, instead of registering 2 wishes, this year candidates participating in the 10th grade entrance exam can register up to 3 wishes for non-specialized public high schools. However, I think this advantage cannot be promoted, because in reality, when the first wish to enter schools is more than the quota, the opportunity for the second and third wishes is very difficult. I myself registered my first wish at Ky Anh High School, but this year compared to the quota, the school will have 130 students who did not pass the 10th grade entrance exam, so I am also very nervous and anxiously waiting for the results of the exam.”

As planned, theeducation sector will announce the results of the 10th grade entrance exam before June 18. Parents and students in Ha Tinh are going through long days filled with hope and anxiety.
